Crank but no start
Have searched a great deal on this and here are what I know:
1. Car is a 2001 L200 with the 2.2L
2. Car ran great then one cold morning would not start (cranks fine)
3. Car will sputter for about a second then die
4. Code was MAP related so we replaced that - did not help
5. In going through the amazing knowledge on this site I have verified
- Fuses are good
- Car is getting spark (starting fluid will keep it running)
- Pump looks good in that car has 50psi at the rail (using pressure gauge)
- Security is suspect in that when key is ON no security light at all (not constantly on, no flashing, nothing)
- BCM is also suspect
We also tried turning the key to ON but no start and waiting for 10min. before trying to start the car. We have not tried the 30min. procedure (will do that tonight).
Any advice on how to diagnose further?
Thank you in advance for the help

Re: Crank but no start
For a Monster, you did good!? If the engine runs on starting fluid and you're suspecting a fuel problem, you're right! The question is why aren't the injectors injecting.
With the pump running its 2-second cycle at ignition ON time and you seeing fuel pressure, either (Passlock) is preventing injectors from operating or the fuel injector fuse is blown. Passlock is GM's theft deterrent system that disables injectors. The security light is supposed to be flashing, ON, flashing quickly or off. The security light should be on along with all the other lights at ignition ON time then turn off during starting. The bcm controls security and usually gives up other symptoms to announce its impending failure; flashing panel lights, headlights, wipers, born, basically the 'possessed' symptoms. There are threads with members describing symptoms that are all traced back to the bcm.
Pulling the fuse may reset it for another try otherwise you may have to troubleshoot some more to verify bcm failure. A work around might be wiring a temporary bypass to the fuel pump relay terminals 30 and 87, sending 12v immediately to power the fuel pump. Whether the injectors operate or not remains to be seen. What's left are Passlock locking out injector operation, blown injector fuse or a mystery problem not yet discovered. Pull a spark plug or three to see if fuel is ever injected.
