Default Astra starter weak slow cranking power

Before spending your money like crazy, check first your starter circuitry contacts, wires, and replace the starter RELAY (yellow color) the one that is located right next to the brown color relay. You canít miss it!

Donít do like me! I did replace the battery and starter: The weak cranking power did not go away.

Background Mistake:
Since 2014 I start to notice a reduction of my starterís cranking power. I thought was the battery so I replaced with a new battery GM AcDelco. My cranking power did not improve. I thought was the batteryís quality. It was ok for me, I can keep moving! Now, in 2018 the cranking power become more weaker almost to nothing. I did purchase a Bosch Premium Performance Battery Group Size 91. It did not improve at all. With all my wisdom I suspected it was the STARTER. The Astra has to be raised full size. It is a dealership job. So, when I did get back the cranking power did not improve al all!

MY SOLUTION: All I did was to open the engine fuse box and replace the RELAY (the yellow color next to the brown color). Like miracle, the cranking power is back to normal. I am very sorry for my AcDelco battery and my original starter to let it go. They were in good working condition!

My luck, I had an eBay 80 amps relay that was intended for my fogs. So, I did use that it is a perfect fit! Look the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-...72.m2749.l2649

Default Re: Astra starter weak slow cranking power

That engine fuse box can get damp sometimes. The cover sometimes comes loose or maybe there is another place for water to enter.

I wonder if the relay was fine but the contacts were a bit corroded. So simply removing the relay and inserting another cleaned the contacts sufficiently. Or messing around in the box sorted out a different loose/bad connection. . .

The thought is that a wet fuse box is a popular Astra problem whilst failed relays are not.
