Default Clarion VX400 radio install

Just got done getting this radio installed with sirius/GPS/Bluetooth modules. I had all the interface done to still have access to OnStar and steering wheels controls for the radio. I think it turned our very well. I really like it. Of course now my stereo is worth more than the car.

SEM makes paint that matches the surround of the radio and HVAC controls. I picked some up along with a mounting kit and painted for when I decide to swap out my radio.

70's on 7 FTW.

I want this too, because honestly, the stock radio is really lacking.

The reasons I'm holding off on it are because:

1) Lack of money

2) I want a radio that lights orange to match the rest of the interior lighting.

Kenwood and Pioneer make headunits with infinite illumination possibilities. I got a Kenwood to match a co-workers Pontiac reddish/orange lighting and a Pioneer to match a friends interior colors of their Silverado.

I'm looking at getting the Pioneer AVIC-X920BT at some point. I've already played with one and got it to match the Auras orange lighting. I've also played around with a couple newer Kenwoods and have done the same.

Can you break down the cost estimate at least on a rough basis? I'm seeing this head unit selling for $350 shipped brand new... retail price is $500. Did you also add speakers or something else or did they just charge you $900-1050 to put it in?

It looks nice but I always assumed I could get an aftermarket nav unit in my Aura for under $600 altogether. I guess I'm way off.

Its about $100 for the interface module to retain chimes/RAP power/OnStar ect. And other $75-$80 for the module to retain steering wheel controls. Another $120 or so for the Sirius equipment. Plus if it was all installed at a shop, add the crazy mark up on all those items, plus the unit and the labor to install it all.

If you're able to installed these things on your own and are pretty good shoping around the internet. You can save quite a bit of cash. Several hundred dollars.

The radio itself wasn't that pricey but add up all the interfaces and install and boom lot's of money. It don't have it all broken out but.
1) radio
2 Sirius module
3) GPS module
4) OnStar interface
5) steering wheel controls interface.
6) install

didn't change out the speakers.

They didn't have any radios I liked that matched the lighting on the rest of the dash. I really like this unit. All touch screen.
