99 to 97 DOHC Swap
I am in the middle of my first engine swap, and I have a few questions. I am putting the engine from a 99 SL2 into my 97 SW2. I have both engines out of their respective cars and sitting on the ground in front of me. I am trying to determine what parts I have to remove from the 97 to put on the 99. The swap guide, and a visual inspection, tell me that I have to swap the fuel rails. Do I have to swap the intake manifold? The swap guide says that those years are not compatible, but would that only matter if I was swapping the heads? I didn't plan on touching the heads if I don't have to.
Also, what other parts would you recommend I take from the newer doner vehicle?
Thanks! This forum has been very helpful during this project.
