2004 ION-3 Sedan
Happy New to the ION

Hey all. I just bought an 04 ION sedan yesterday, and I must say I'm pretty damn impressed. The 140 horses under the hood feels alot better than advertised. This will be my car for years to come so I will be doing a few mods to get the car to my liking.

One problem I have, though, is that I got home yesterday, and tried to pop the trunk using the button inside the car and it doesn't budge. No sound or anything. I'm thinking it's probably a fuse. I can still use the key to pop the trunk so it's not a real problem. Where is that fuse located though?

Also, does this car not have an ash tray? I'm not a smoker, but I find that odd.

Anyways, thanks in advance for the warm welcome I know I'll get.

Information Re: New to the ION

Congrats on the car and welcome to SaturnFans!

The car does not come with an ashtray, but you can get one that fits in the right drink holder in the front console from SaturnParts.net.

Many cars these days only have the removable type (political correctness.)

22709630 Each $14.96
ION Ashtray Pkg.- includes lighter
Will fit 2003-2005 IONs only.

Here's the link to put in your address bar to get right to the page:

Glad to hear there's another happy Ion owner. Welcome!

About your trunk release, before checking the fuse, check that the trunk child safety release is not engaged. There's a switch by the safety lever that if engaged will not allow the trunk to be opened from inside the car and only with the key.

Yeah, these cars have no ash trays. Not a smoker either so don't mind it at all.

Enjoy your Ion!

when you say "safety lever", do you mean the one that is located on the door?

Forgive me, I'm at work and can't wait to go out and check, lol

Most the cars the past 10 years have been removing the ash trays.

You should see a pulling handle to release the lid if trapped inside, but there is a small switch actually on the mechanism that is mean't for security. Just flip that and see if the button works then.

Glad you are enjoying your ION, they are indeed amazing cars... On a trip to Montreal last month, a friend of mine took the wheel of my 06 QC3 2.4 for a while when I got tired and fell in love immediately. So much in fact, that yesterday he traded in his Mustang for an 07 QC3 2.4 The dealership here just put in an order for 50 more ION Coupes because they are selling like hotcakes in this area. People are finally realizing how great these cars are.

I used to have an Ion, had some problems with it and ended up trading for a vue but I loved the Ion. That ecotec engine is amazing. (my vue has the same one)

If anyone knows of many ways to improve my 2.0 liter Ion-2 please let me know. I am looking to increase horsepower and install bodykits.

You are correct. The Ion 2 would have the 2.2 liter Ecotec.
