![]() hi sages curious how the L100 compares to the ion which came out later. actually see more ions on tobacco road than L sedans/wagons. was the ion an improvement over the L or merely a home run for dealer wallets. did it share many parts with the L? would surmise it had the same engine and manual trans as the L. were 3 floor pedals available on the ion?jnever saw that on an ion. haven't heard much about this model. like the 47 Lincoln zephyr and 63 chevy Biscayne with overdrive. they are out there but almost no articles/stories about them past or present. how many of you know the once common borg warner overdrive trans actually had 6 speeds? btw since my 01 L is heading to 200k worried that when rear springs blow to hell , will not be able to get replacement parts. actually took them out and back about 10 years ago to replace with Gabriel struts. figure these springs at dealer parts desk will be a true super clip. looking forward to your wise counsel. thanks tons bob f

![]() There is an Ion section to this forum. The Ion replaced the S series car for Saturn. There are lots of stick shift Ions out there. The Ion used a different transmission than the L series. Only the supercharged Ion Redline used the same series transmission as our L series and they used a cable shifter. The L61 is the same basic engine but the thermostat housing assembly on the back of the engine is different.
... 2002 L200/5 loaded, loving my stick shift car now with KYB struts and adjustable rear control arms.
