Default 2003 AWD 3.0 starter location?

I must have lost my mind. I am going to replace my Crank Position Sensor tomorrow so I looked under the car to find the starter location and I don't see it anywhere. I am not a novice and I don't think I have ever had this kind of problem in thirty years. What gives? Where is it? Maybe senility is finally setting in.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

OH! MY! GOD!? We must be related!? I did the same thing trying to find my starter in my wagon's V6 (Mercury Sable) some years back. My brother-in-law had to tell me where it was...............

Yours is between the firewall and engine but you won't find the cps there. The cps is right next to the oil filter..............

Do I have to tell you where the oil filter is?

Thanks for the info. I know where the filter is, so I assume then the starter is above the transaxle some way. Thanks for the cps location. I pulled that information off the internet somewhere that it was above the starter. My mistake. I'll take a look tomorrow evening. I hope the new sensor is here by then.

Its an easy mistake; 4cyl engines (Saturns) have their cps' above and behind the starter but our L300 V6 engines have cps' next to the oil filter. Its just mechanical design to place the cps outside the engine block in direct proximity to the machined 'teeth' (on the crankshaft) the cps uses for position sensing.
