Default $700, what to do

I have around $700 to spend on mods. What would you suggest that would give me the biggest "bang for the buck?" I'm not interested in nitrous so that leaves out a biggie. All I have now is an intake. I also have 136,000 miles on my car. Any suggestions?

Well I might suggest the AEM intake....of course im sure the one you have is fine. Definitely go exhaust, If its an SC1 or SL1, I would suggest 2", and anything else 2 1/4'. These are only suggestions though.....a strut tower brace would help, maybe some drop springs if you wanna lower ride, course its gonna be stiffer. Just remember every little thing you do is gonna help. Good luck.

Word on the strut tower brace. Does wonders for handling. Aftermarket wheels might be a little too much for the $700 budget. So, I'd go with the strut tower brace and a decent cat-back, and save the rest.

Well in theory, Nitrous would be your best "bang for the buck", but I hate it. It hurts your motor, and isn't any good except at the strip. I would go with basic bolt ons like intake and exhaust.

On the subject of "bang for the buck", throw a match in your gas tank. It will make quite a bang, for not too much $.

True. Note to SaturnFans: Do not throw matches in your gas tank.

All joking aside now...(wouldn't want anyone to report this post even though this is all in good fun.) what is it you are going for? Cornering, all around style, all out power(drag racing) You have to know what dirrection you are taking your car if you want anyone to give you useful help.

p.s. I do not report people... that prior satatement was a general analysis pertaining to my POV of certain members of this website whos names and identities will be witheld so as not to point out and openly "flame" someone. Thank you,

If you are going for power, you can add a few hp with intake (pipe/filter and header), exhaust header and the piping and muffler. Just putting a straight thru muffler and replacing my stock intake tube and filter made a mildly noticable difference at aprox. 2500-4000rpm. My brother (who has been a master technician for 20-some years) said the biggest bang for the buck (besides throwing a match in the gas tank would be to put an RV cam in. The "brother" deal for me would be $550 installed. And yes, RV as in Recreational Vehicle.

Hope this helps.

dead serious. the cam controls how much air gets through, and it makes sense that an RV cam would help because the way they are made is to let more air through by opening up more and longer... considering its normally for an RV which is a monster vehicle that needs a lot of air to get through to move

might sound kinda 'ey, but it makes sense if you think about it.

At first I thought you where living up to your name but now I'm not so sure anyway I'll join in because people on this forum have embrassed more off the wall stuff than this... with a little support of course eh hem.... Hey you guys I think this guy is on to something... I'm going to see how much one of these cams are probably give you 15hp right. How much for 2 of them because I have a twin cam so I'll need two right? Anyway, I think I know someone who got this done and his car is fast now I think he's probably running at least 12's now. That's better than NOS!! Matter of fact I might be able to hook up a deal w/ an RV dealership my cousin owns one who ever wants to get in on this let me know cause I could probablly get them cheap
