BWHAHAHAHA I thought about doing that last week, it's been freezing over and the saturn is always parked outside. Timer at 5am, get in and drive at 6am nice and toasty.

Well done.

Tracking down a front-end vibration from 60 to 70mph in 5th gear.
Comp Test
All good.

I checked the mounts a couple days ago. All good.

By grabbing the tire at 12 & 6 olclock, the driver’s wheel bearing felt loose. ...so today I installed a new one.
The old one shows a “change” in wear-pattern on the race at 6 o’clock...so it needed changing regardless...but not in January

Here is one of the threads I’m following: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=103624

Next suspect, after verifying tires again, is the driver’s AC Delco control arm ball joint. CA was installed 17,000 miles ago. If I only replace one CA, I might get away with just adjusting Toe until the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead when traveling in a straight line.

...
Competition Clutch 10Lb. Flywheel. 14 stalls to date (and loving it).
Oil use is 1 ounce per 100 miles with ~230,000 miles on the engine

I STRIPPED out a few small things, speakers, stereo, hitch, battery.
2000 SL1 in bronze, lots of good stuff, good drivetrain complete with subframe.
Still drives, just no brakes (rear lines)
She is now ready to be hauled away. Would like to keep it around for parts for other projects, but that might cause some tension with the better 3/4's!
So if anyone needs anything or would like to have it for scrap value let me know.
Oh, just a thought. It is a half year gen 3 with no factory air injection. Can you say different exhaust manifold? Rare?

Yes, power steering pumps get very angry in the cold. We're in a deep freeze here too; -25.6 F this morning and the Saturn started well enough without a block heater. Power steering pump whined for about 20 minutes before it settled down. Every S Series I've owned has this characteristic.

Remove the old GM power steering goo and replace with Amsoil full synthetic universal ATF or Torque-Drive. That usually takes care of the excessively high pump discharge pressure due to the high viscosity. The old GM fluid is not viscosity stable, low Viscosity Index.

Just ordered a bunch of parts from Rock Auto, including control arms, trailing arms, headlights, upper and lower radiator hoses, brake hydraulic hoses, drum brake hardware, disc brake hardware etc. A lot of this stuff was on wholesale closeout anyways so I figured, why not?

I previously ordered a stabilizer bar so when everything shows up, the control arms and stabilizer bar will be mounted onto the subframe that will eventually be swapped into the SL.

Well, all the stuff I ordered a few days ago showed up between yesterday and today, so I got to finally swap the SL's headlights.

The car was a bit lazy-eyed due to an unfortunate incident with a Ford Escape that damaged the adjustment of the driver's side headlight, so it was nice to actually have lights that focus properly rather than two bulbs highlighting the exact same spot.

No trickle charger, no block or battery heater. I'm running Penzoil SAE 5W-30.

My other Saturn, the 2001 SL1, has been struggling this winter but I think it may be due for a battery. My daughter couldn't get it started without the block heater twice so far this winter and the temperatures were only around -28 Celsius. I made sure she plugged it in last night and I assume she got it running this morning as I haven't heard from her.

Did you eventually find a block heater?
