Default Lightweight Battery

Any companies ever make a battery for the S-Series that was lightweight?

yes, you can get a lightweight battery. There are guys that are running motorcycle batteries. Keep in mind that a smaller battery will generally also hold less charge, so don't go sitting around with the engine off groovin' to your tunes much.

It won't be worth it for most people, but it is weight reduction, and can make a battery relocation a little easier.

I want one but have better things to spend my money on. They aren't cheap and don't hold a ton of charge., But they are lighter and don't leak in high G tums. My Autozone Gold has eaten away at the battery mount from a minor amount of sepage around the cell service caps. Not enough to worry, just enough to be aggrrivating.

I have better things to spend money on. That's not worth it TehSaturn. Dropping a couple pounds is like not wearing any cloths and taking off your shoes... Is it really going to make you any faster? You'd have to do quite a bit of stuff to make it matter.

Check out a XS Power 680...theyre pretty darn small and could easily be used as a main battery in a saturn.

Mm, that's a nice battery. I'm interested in these lightweight batteries, not sure why. Lithium car battery sounds very exciting as well. My battery is far from dead though, so I won't be picking this up any time soon.

I know I can spend my money elsewhere guys, I'm just looking into longer lasting and/or smaller sized batteries. Seeing what else is out there other than lead acid.

If you are at the end it could. You are probably better served by doing suspension or power (and we know how friutless those can be) mods.

Lighter weight should always be faster, but a street car already has a ton of unnessicary weight.

That was exactly what I was getting at. Basically I am saying, unless you are making a race car, you're wasting your money.

I got a smaller (and lightweight) battery because it was easier to fit in the trunk, and sealed.

There has been a lot of talk over this not being the fastest setup. The extra cable is weight and you are increasing polar intertia. By moving the battery further away from the center of gravity.

You'd need to know where the center of gravity is to find out if you're actually negatively effecting anything. The battery isn't at the center of gravity to begin with, so who knows.

Also, the weight of my old battery was greater then the weight of the new one plus the 2awg cable I ran.

P.S. Like OnDaGround mentioned, I relocated out of necessity.
