remove everything you don't need and go on a diet? See differentracing.com for a LOT of examples of removing things you don't need, to an extreme.

I forget the page but some guy removed 500lbs from his car. ~2400 - 500 = ~1900.

darnit, evil plastic was who I was thinking of, though the differentracing guys have done plenty of weight reduction too, just not documented to quite the extent as evil plastic.

Build a rollcage, throw some axles on it with a seat welded in, put in some pedals and a shifter, fat tires and you engine and tranny. Call it satty-bone and you can figure a good 1500-1800lb weight reduction.

Sand rail? If I was doing that, I wouldn't use a Saturn powerplant. I'd go SBC, or possibly BB Mopar mmmm 440 with a 6 pack pounding out like 390hp and 490ft lbs at 3200rpms...oh my god sex.

This would be extremely fast.
http://www.truepowerllc.com/ A GM 572 converted to DOHC, supercharged that is capable of over 6000hp on Nitromethane fuel. On pump gas it makes 1500hp. Crazy! They can make you a 700 cubic in motor too! Thats 11.5L!!! Compared to our 1.9L engines. A difference of 9.5L!!!! ...
