I replaced my ~310k mile ( ) front and rears with the Monroe Quick-Struts in late June. They seem good to me - the ride is solid, the car sits a couple of inches higher off the ground, and I don't feel like I'm going to roll when I take a turn a little too fast.

I'm pleased with the Quik-Struts. I took a 250 mile drive today, and noticed a better ride and handling. When crossing the expansion seams on the roads and bridges, I hardly even noticed. Other people on the forum have commented they like using KYB struts and Moog springs.

Pulled passenger seat from kids car (2000 SCW) to compare to the Stanky Ho's (2000 GOLDEN NUGGET SW2. seat slider. The boy will be 16 in Feb.

The Stanky Ho has gotten a top to bottom, inside and out 4-Day clean. Great car for $500. Just need to get tags, plate, brakes and she should be ready to roll to her forever home. Might be ours, might not.

I scraped my windows. Doesn't sound newsworthy, but after driving a Dodge Ram last winter I really appreciate the low height and size of the Saturn after a frost. It is easier to park too!

Finally replaced my flex pipe... welded it in. The wire mesh became loose after about 15 years... took about 5 more years for the flex pipe to fail and start making noise.

The OEM flex pipe was a much heavier gauge than the $20 flex pipe that I replaced it with.

I repaired my abs and brake light . I just bought a replacement abs unit from junkyard found the best looking car in yard . Put in mine bleed the abs two modulator bleeder screws then the RR RL LR LL . DID THIS WITH my homemade pressure bleeder . Took care of a 700 dollar repair with a 20 dollar abs unit from donor car . BLEED IT A FEW TIMES CAUSE i dont care about 40 dollar fluid. Need my inspection done in 2 or 3months . I love my car. Also did synthentic oil change getting it ready for winter. Checked my a battery terminals fixed a negative terminal issue Where the bolt was loose and not solid connect and would cause my battery to cut out. So I went to oreily picked up a new bolt for $2.99 repair.

Also did a full brake job rears and fronts all new hardware drums and pads and hardware replaced .Bleed entire system with over a half gallon of fluid . Will do this yearly now on. So I never have another abs light again.Abs feels wonderful now.

Installed seat heaters in the front seats of the 99 SL2 yesterday. Added a fused circuit from the UHJB positive post and through the firewall using the existing grommet. I tapped into the switched brown F12 wire to control the circuit using a relay so they turn off with the key. Used the body ground point to the left of the radio for all the ground wires. I had to put the switches on the sides of the console this time as the Gen2 console doesn't have enough space near the shift boot. They are just forward of the shift tower and down about 1 1/2". Pulled the seat covers off the seats to install the heating pads; the 99 has a much easier configuration than the 01 SL1 seats in my other car. Looking forward to a toasty butt this winter!

I checked the oil in the '98 tonight. There was plenty:

The other oil reservoir was a couple diamonds from the bottom. One of these days I'll have to put the aluminum valve cover on.

Changed the teams fluid today. I thought it was still the original fluid in there but there wasn't a magnet on the filter. My dad said he's never changed it in the time he's owned the car so the original owner must have done it at some point, or Saturn did before my dad bought it. Either way, that's still 55K-80k on the same fluid.

Drove my new Michigan Defenders on the expressway for 100 miles.
They ain’t round enough for fancy expressway drivin’.
Un-drivable from 55mph to 65 mph. When traffic slowed to 60mph, I was never quite sure whether to accelerate or pull off the road.

It would be great if tire manufactures sold tire “rounding” kits to consumers. They would be able to come up with something better than a bench sander with 40-grit

While grinding the tire round, I noticed the wheel was not set-up properly when it was “remanufactured” and re-painted.
https://imgur.com/a/5nY9d2y
To compound the problem, I requested stick-on wheel weights.
The combination of tire, wheel and wheel weights made the assembly un-drivable. With clip-on weights, it will probably be fine.

Finally got a CD changer installed in my trunk today! When I first tried using it, it wouldn't read any CDs so I tried cleaning it with some compressed air and that seemed to help a little. It'll read discs now but seems to be really hit or miss with no rhyme or reason on the disc. Old, new, and burnt CD-Rs all work, but all also take their turn not working and giving an error. It might have to be taken apart and cleaned more but maybe it'll work itself out after some use. It hasn't been used in years. Really doesn't take up as much space as I though it would either. It fits nicely above my tools and things I keep in the back.

Now my Saturn can play radio, cassettes, CDs, hand have Bluetooth/aux with an adapter. I think that'll cover all the bases in terms of useful media formats lol

Also, huge thanks colonelhoghen44 for selling me his old one. Finding a changer on eBay was easy but since every car that had the changer mounted it a little differently, I probably never would have found the Saturn bracket for mounting it in the trunk.

Ground the other (Pass Side) Michigan Defender to a “round” state.
And, bought some sharp 24-grit tire-grind belts so it doesn’t take 8-hours, like the driver’s side tire took

And some coated wheel weights for the Saturn O.E. alloy wheel because I can not expect a tire center to have an exact match to every rim profile at hand.
