Default "race" tire options

"TIRES AND WHEELS: Stock type wheel, 165 thru 195 60/65/70 tires. All 4 wheels must have the same size tire, no mixing of sizes. No re grooving, recaps or chemical treatment is allowed. Tire must have at least 2/32nds tread remaining in at least two grooves. NO RACING OR HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES ALLOWED."

These are the rules for my tire options at my local track. I run a 3/8 mile circle asphalt track. Any recommendations for tires brands, types, or sizes? Thinking widest and shortest sidewall but that's not always the best option. Anyone had good experience with certain combinations? The car is not a street car at all.

Okay this sounds like fun. Where is the track you are racing at? Does your track have a minium tread wear for your class tires? ie. 200AA or something to that effect?

I run at BaerField Speedway in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I am the only Saturn out there but it is a good mix. 50-60% Hondas and the rest of us run everything from GMs to Hyundai's lol. Here is the site if you want to look at our rules.

"NO RACING OR HIGH PERFORMANCE TIRES ALLOWED."

That sounds like a weak rule.

If they say no tire under 200 rating. than the 615K is my choice. watch out on some of the AutoX rubber though as they are designed to be really grippy at ambient temps, but get slick as things get hot. They also can have pretty short life if that are run hard for a long time, or on aggressive surfaces.

If that is not allowed checkout the Falken 912 it is a pretty good. It posts good numbers. It has a compound that is really good and a stiff carcase. The 912 has a touring tire style tread, but the void area isn't bad.

Also Fusion has the ZRi that is pretty good. Its tread is a bit more aggressive, but the compound isn't as good. It has softer sidewalls than the 912. But it tend to be less expensive.
