Default Summer Job @ Saturn

Hey everyone,

I've got a little personal news that I thought I'd mention. I talked to the "Fixed Operations Manager" at my local retailer and will probably get a job there this summer as a "porter". Basically this job entails:
*Moving cars around the service area
*Putting cars in the showroom
*Touching up/waxing showroom cars
*Washing cars in the service area
*Waxing newly purchased cars
*Picking up/dropping off customers who have cars being serviced
*Prepping cars for delivery
*Sweeping up the service area
*Cleaning up a bathroom if necessary

So basically its a position with different jobs including daytime janitor. Sounds like a cool job to me.

Basically that is what I do.. actually that is my exact job except for the janitorial issues.. we have a seperate night janitorial staff at our store. You will learn a lot about the cars that you might not know already, and it's quite the fun job. You will learn to hate cranberry, blackberry, and black cars though, with a true passion. One word of advice.. never use a straight orbital buffer on a cranberry colored car.. I burnt the paint off of a SL1 the first time I tried... hadn't even made it through my first week yet.
Congratulations, it is a great position, and you get to drive MORE than a crapload of cars.

Wow! Congrats. I'll be starting as a sales consultant at Carmax soon. I'm guessing you're as excited as I am.

My dad's L300 is black and I really hate it. Fortunately most of the cars I've seen around the retailer and service area are light colored cars

Interesting! I esp like the part you can drive a lot of brand new Saturns around.

Will you get certain amount of "Saturn" training before started? How many hours required for a week as a Porter?

D.J,
Do I know you?? I bought my race car from Saturn of Dayton South. How long have you worked there?
I didn't know they were number 7.. SWEET! That is just AWESOME!
I love that place. Since I am currently OFF of work, I'll have to stop by and see what Dennis, Terry, and all the folks are doing there.
I love the service turn-over. Half the time I go there, the guys are like "Who are you again?" "You have WHAT?!?! outside?" "Uhhh, can we see?"
Great place to work. Matt, sounds like you have a good job lined up. I am jealous. I may make some good green, but man, it's been killin' me lately.
Well, anyway, MUCHO congrats on the new job!!

I work the last 2 weekends of the month right now, and will work 4-midnight again in the summer... just look for my red VUE with dark tints, and all of the bodyside cladding and stuff, and you'll know im there.

I'll probably end up getting some training. The hours are 12-9 Monday-Thursday, 12-6 Saturdays. So I'd get Friday and Sunday off with a good evening left on Saturday.

The manager said the job is pretty much mine unless the porter who currently has the job does not relocate. I really hope he relocates.

It is nice... every day that I go into work, I get to grab pretty much any car off of the lot I want (I don't get front line cars), and drive it for the day. I got to take an ION home last week while my VUE was being tinted, so there are some benefits to this

12-9, that's a decent schedule to avoid all the regular commuter traffic.

Too bad Saturn dealers won't do Valet Parking for coming in customers, or you can earn few extra bucks from tips too. (J/K)

Maybe I'll earn tips from picking/dropping off customers?
