i've had a check engine light since i got my car (bought salvage then fixed) i tried changing the spark plugs (autolite's platinum) since i had a misfire on cylinder #1 and that fixed my check engine light but then the next day i changed the wires and i thought i replaced them exactly how they went but the check engine light came up and i went to autozone the people there were very helpful i replaced the coil pack on the left (right one:stock), the guy tried helping me rewire them since i got a new set of wires for free because he thought it might be bad wires, i was able to drive off the lot w/no check engine light but a few blocks from home the lamp when on again and i got it checked out and its cylinder one again (the misfire changed cylinders when the wires were wrong), sorry if this is a long explanation or what not but i just need to know which wires go were, what is hte firing order and could this be caused by a diff problem. i've read various forums trying to find the answer but now i joined simply to ask. can anyone provide a diagram or at least a dumb-version for me since i really want this to be clear to me (long wire here, etc etc)

Well, if things haven't changed any the firing order would be 4,1,2,3 and facing the engine cylinder order 1,2,3,4.

Hopefully this will help:Originally Posted by Luke

The second from the left coil [2], should go to spark plug well [1] The third from the left coil [3], should go to spark plug well [2] the fourth from the left coil [4], should go to spark plug well [3]. There should be a graph on the center of the engine compartment's radiator, just where the hood latches to the center grill area.

OTOH, the stock NGK plugs seem to perform as well as anything else so why waste the money on more expensive plugs? I bought the platinum plugs before I found this forum, BTW! ![]() |

ty redkees, my owners maual lists 2002 saturn firing order @ 1342, after several failed attempts, & 3-4 hours of research. Your reply nailed it, by the radiator up front is firing order 4123.
