Default Interior Door Handle Removal

Hey, I've searched the forums on this topic, and pretty much every thread has said to pop out the lil horshoe clip, is this the one theyre talking about? I just dont wanna end up trying to pop out the wrong thing, as it seems like it'll be a PITYA trying to get back in...also, is there an easier way to pop it out without going to Autozone to rent a part? thanks!

In a nutshell, no. There's two things "horseshoe clip" could be referring to here, I think. If you have manual windows, there's a horseshoe clip that holds on the crank. I would have no clue on this.

The other possibility are the clips that hold in the rods for the lock and actual door handle. These are little pieces of plastic that the metal rod goes into, and then there's a clip part attached to them that slides over to make sure the rod doesn't pop out. If you remove the screw in the handle and slide the assembly forward and pull out a little bit, you will see the rod going into the lock, with a blue clip grabbing the rod. Using a small flathead screwdriver, you would rotate the clip off of the rod, and then lift the rod from the hole in the clip. The same thing must be done for the rod for the door handle on the bottom side of the assembly.

You'll struggle a little putting it back together the first time, but if you do it multiple times, you get pretty good at it.

To remove the door handles. Remove the Phillips screw that you see there. It may also be helpful to remove the power door lock switch. To remove the switch pry out gently at the top or bottom of the switch. It should come out fairly easily. Next, pull out the handle assy at the front. Some forward pressure on the handle as it is coming out is necessary to disengage it from the slots in the door sheet metal. CAREFUL. The handle is still connected to two rods. The retainers holding the rods are attached to the handle and are wrapped around the rods. They are difficult to remove .....but just to warn you they are a little more difficult to reattach . The install is the opposite of the removal. After reattaching the handles, push in and back to engage the handle assy into the slot of the door sheet metal.
Good luck
