Default p0410 Secondary Air Injection, Rusted Bolts Attached To The Exhaust Manifold

Hey guys, real quick question. I'm a bit of a novice who's learning so sorry for the dumb question. I am working on a p0410, 2000 SL2. Followed Rich Pin's video on it and everything is ship shape which leads me to believe the pipe that goes to the exhaust manifold is heavily clogged. The 10mm bolts that attach it are beyond rusted. I read somewhere that using PB blaster is a bad idea when you're on the engine itself. I have a nasty habit of breaking bolts and hoped some of your guy's expertise could advise me as to the best way to get them off properly. Also, if the pipe and hole going into the exhaust manifold are super clogged, what would be the best thing to use to clean it safely? Thanks for reading.

side note: Rich Pin is the Greek god of Saturns. I would love to shake his hand some day. Can't even fathom how much money he has saved me in the 10 years I've owned this car.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Many garages release rusted bolts especially on manifolds by applying extreme heat using oxy-acetylene. Another method is to use extreme cold. You can buy a rattle can of this from Henkel or its suppliers see link:

The only suggestion I can make is to take the car to your local friendly indie garage and pay them to hit the bolts with their heat. It may cost you a few bucks but it will save you hours of cursing.

Not sure I agree with that. I would PB blaster the heck out of them. If you don't have oxy-acetylene use propane or MAP gas. Get it hot then blast it again, but don't breath the fumes. As far as getting the carbon out, use a small screwdriver or some sort of pokey thing. My tube was packed, as was the manifold passage.

Have you checked the ACDelco 21210000 Secondary Air Injection Shut-Off Valve after cleaning everything and not finding a clogged tube, I replaced the ACDelco Idle Air Control Valve, #214-1057 it didn't fix the issue, but as soon as I installed the shut off valve all issues stopped and the PO410 code sucks! Also to clean that tube I bought some pipe cleaners at the 99cent Only stores, 3 pack of different sizes for $1....

If using PB Blaster on the engine is bad, I've been doing it wrong for a long time

I'd tap it a few times with a hammer, soak it at least overnight, might even tear up something like cotton balls or paper towel, put it on/around the bolts, and soak in PB Blaster so it does not dry up overnight.

+1 on pokey things, think I also sprayed with carb cleaner

For certain things . . . might be worth calling a local shop with your concern about broken bolts and see what they would charge just to remove the bolts. That way, if they break . . . you aren't stuck.
