My '95 needs a clutch and is a beater for the most part, but I didn't even get scrap price offers here. I thought just the subframe, good body panels, running engine, etc... would grab a few hundred dollars. I hate to send it to the scrap yard, but that is the way it's looking. I suspect you may end up in the same situation. At least Cali will buy it from you.

wow, that looks really clean.
The exhaust tip on my muffler doesnt have that many miles and got several coats of hi-temp POR15 and paint, and doesnt look that nice ![]() Brake pedal doesnt look hardly worn, no rust on the gas/trunk levers. Grabbed a few pics for posterity, missed a few though edit: had to convert some of them from WEBP to JPG

The 91 motor mounts where apparently hard to find even in the mid 2000's when Saturn dealers where still open. Not really sure what they where thinking with the motor mounts for 91. Saturn defiantly was not planning on changing the whole setup one year later for 92, but people complained so much about about engine noise and vibration that Saturn had to do something. It should have been the 92-02 way from the start, but because it wasn't it kind of screwed over early adopters of the brand. There must have never been much demand for 91 motor mount replacements so production must have stopped pretty early relative to most 1st gen parts. I don't think there was ever any aftermarket for them either. Being their first car, you really can't blame them for how many things are 91 only. A lot was changed for the better as the years went on. It does unfortunately make restoring a 91 in the modern day a lot harder. It is possible to retrofit a 91 with a 92-02 mount setup by swapping timing chain covers and a few other things if really needed, but then it looses some of the charm of being a 91 imo.

I just wish there was some way to stop the vibration in the cabin. I have 3 saturns currently, a 1992, 1997, and a 2001, all SC2 and i have bought the real saturn branded mounts and the interiors still vibrate to beat hell, especially at start up when its cold out..I have a hard time these things vibrated this bad from new, but when you replace the mounts on several different cars and it still doesnt stop it, they couldnt have been too good from the start..

I took a second look at the Cali offer... its $1200. Yes, I will take less selling it to somebody here. What is really sad are all the incidental parts I have put away for the car like multiple long oil filters, plugs, break pads, new nos coil packs, a gasket or two... I will entertain ANY offer, consider any ideas of convenience to the buyer in order to keep all the mentioned tangibles from getting thrown on top of a scrap pile. Remember, ZERO rust, interior is about a 9.5/10, zero dents, runs nice and smooth at all speeds, everything works. PM me and know that I may not check in here on a daily basis (Weekly or so?) Thanks ! |

New motor mounts wont knock out the jumbling/shaking of your running engine if there is a reasonable power imbalance between the cylinders. The imbalance can make the motor jerk, rock/shake. My car used to be that way before my rebuild. The rebuild put my compression measurements all exactly the same and now when the car is running you would never know it. |

I love the enthusiasm behind this ad. Doesn't really say or show a whole lot about the car though.
