Default Help?! Manual transmission “shifts,” but doesn’t engage. Dropped clutch, “click” fel

My foot accidentally slipped off the clutch while I was stopped and my foot was on the brake, and instead of stalling the car there was a “click,” meanwhile the engine kept running.

Now (immediately after) when I release the clutch nothing happens at all—there doesn’t seem to be any engagement of the engine with any of the gears (1-5, R).

Where should I start? I don’t know much about clutches.

Any chance that there’s a short term fix to let me limp the car back 50 miles?

Thanks a bunch.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Check the drive axles that go from the trans to each front wheel, one may be broken. The one on the passenger side is most likely to break.

Thanks folks. Was the passenger axle, as predicted.
