Information Engine issues

I have a Saturn SL2 1.9L DOHC

- car started running rough about 3 weeks ago.
- two weeks ago it had been running rough and had trouble starting.
- changed plugs and wires
- has new ignition coils
- started and ran mostly normal
- still running a little rough
- last week it started at work fine and got me home
- the next morning it would crank but not start
- had battery checked' it's good
- has new coils, wires, plugs
- last time it was at Car X they told me 2 cylinders had low compression
- Oil was also old so I changed it
- Added Restore 4 cyl
- It cranks but still won't start.

I figure I have to check the fuel filter and such next but wanted to see what insight you fine folks may have. Thanks for the read!

Confirm It is getting fuel. Confirm spark. Do another compression test and post results. Any check engine lights?

i would check fuel filter and make sure u can blow through it easy without any restriction and do compression test and fuel pressure test too

if you get to that point, just throw a new Wix fuel filter on while you are there. Chances are that it needs it
As other said, give it a shot of ether in the TB and see if it pops off. That will at least tell you if it is fuel or spark. Just a 2 second shot - NO MORE!

Great! Thanks for the insight.

- Haven't checked engine codes but the light isn't on. Didn't think bulb could be out but I'll check anyway.
- Haven't checked the ETCS or connector. I will read the sticky article and look over that.

See if you can get actual compression numbers...like OBD-II codes just having the description is about as useful as not having anything at all.
The S-Series engine seems to require higher compression (in PSI) than other engines that shops might be used to working on so their idea of "low compression" might actually be "how on earth is the engine running".
