2000 sl1 dies right after start up dash cluster not working?
Hey saturn fam.
I'm new on here but need a lil help. I have a 2000 sl1 that ran and now it won't stay running replaced the pcm, bcm and still nothing. I pulled the ignition lock out put it all back together got it to run for about an hour but now it's back to dieing right after start up.
Also the dash cluster isn't working only the back lighting and turn signals work nothing else.
Any ideas? All the fuses are good as well fuel pump is working to.

There seems to be myriad of issues here that may be just one or two problems. You may have masked them by throwing parts at it, a pcm and bcm. Add to Passlock security and this may be further away from the original problem(s). There are two options, both no better than the other; return to the original pcm and bcm or presume more problems are added since repairs didn't work with pcm and bcm replacement. Basically, nothing worked and returning to the original configuration may be a wiser choice unless you're confident the replacement pcm and bcm are in perfect working condition. While a 2000 is 16yrs old, pcm's and bcm's are difficult to wreck when its more often sensors, wiring and misdiagnosing misleading anyone into presuming the pcm and bcm failed. Technically, pcm's run the engine and the bcm runs everything else except airbags and abs.
1-Car mileage, maintenance done, parts replaced, aftermarket mods?
2-Checked for blown fuses in both fuse panels?
3-With ignition ON, is security flashing? If its flashing during starting, Passlock is active and disabling injectors from operating - Passlock thinks the car is tampered with. Leaving ignition ON for 10 minutes until security stops flashing allows a reset to security when cycling ignition off before trying another startup. If you are not familiar with Passlock relearn procedures when replacing pcm or bcm, search threads for procedures (30 minute relearn procedure).
4-With ignition ON, locate the fuel test valve on the fuel rail and remove the plastic cap, cover the valve loosely with a rag and depress the valve stem. Fuel should spray out to indicate the fuel pump developed operating pressure.
Ignore the instrument panel lights as this is a distraction masking a starting problem. The bcm runs the instrument panel and can be as simple as a poor connection between bcm or more complicated like a short in wiring.
5-With several failed starting attempts, recharge the battery or use a trickle charger immediately and leave it connected.
