Yep, long live the hillbilly fix. fdryer, I am sure it won't last forever, but I'd be happy with a couple of months! I really want to fly the airplane this year.

The way these things work out is like this: if it lasts for 24 hours then it may be considered a permanent fix.

How about a split short length of hose with a hose clamp over it to seal the chafe?

Most hose is R-134a permeable, that would be a slow leak.

The patch is steel. Its rate of chafing is slow. Mainly I used the patch to give more surface area to the bond. As the low side pressure tries to push up through the leak, it would have to move the patch which has generous surface area.

As long as the epoxy holds it is permanent fix.

Some of us go to great lengths to have air conditioning. When your silver bullet with wings leaps into the air, post a few snapshots.

Not blowing cold can be other things besides the condenser. If the system was opened and wasn't drawn to a proper vacuum for long enough, or the expansion valve is stuck, the system won't work even with a proper charge and good compressor.
