When I asked her if she drilled it out, she said "No, I cut a key to open the lock. Then after it was apart i reconfigured the tumblers.

Interesting. But I did read that any Saturn key will open the door locks. I haven't tried it yet.

Doors and trunk can be removed from the car without having the key which makes getting them open relatively easy. The 98 and older key codes are in a FSM manual. Once you have the key code you have the key. Armed with the ignition key the door and trunk key can be cut from that.

So, today I put in the EK twin ground plugs, swapped spark plug wires from the wreck. It's nice having the keeper style holders on the 02's coil packs. It was always a issue on my 96 having the wires or wire on a coil pop off on the 96. And installed the rekeyed trunk lock.

Also. Started swaping speakers between the two.

Also drained and filled the Power Steering tank again. same wine as last three times.

I don't think the PS pump is very happy.

I was thinking of putting some ATF+4 in. It's synthetic and I have a bunch of it when autozone dumped their Valvoline line. I got something like 26 quarts for 1 dollar each.

It originally was a synthetic but probably is not any more due to the improvements in refining technology. May or may not be an improvement over the Universal ATF, never hurts to try. You could fill that thing up with AW hydraulic oil that was an ISO-22.

I will look for the ISO-22 HYD fluid. Wonder if the he ATH fluid from amsoil is same?

So today I swapped rotors and pads from the wreck to the 02. Going to bleed brakes this evening.

Also repaired the TAB for the rear defroster. I read 1 ohm between the tabs.

l found out why trunk is hard to latch. It was pushed in and down. I may have been rear ended at one time. So I pried out the plate the lock love coz on my to to make I flat. Now it closes smooth as butter.

It looks like I need to remove the door skin To gain access to the door lock to remove it.

Yep, door skin off.

The ATH is a 5w-30 and is a bit on the heavy side for the PS pump to digest. To find the AW Anti-Wear hydraulic oil in a ISO-22 grade you have to find someone with a bucket of the stuff as it is a 5gal or more product. The AW signifies all weather and the anti-wear is for the high pressure additives.

Ok on the ATH. I use it for the 247 transfer case in the jeep.

Plenty of tractor and heavy equipment places around here. I'll have a look see.

That PS pump has a very limited relief capacity and if you exceed it the pressure hose splits. A lower ISO number is a lower viscosity and might lower the pump discharge pressure, might fix problem.

When I was removing trim to get access to the rear speekers I ran across this module. I'm wondering if it has something to do with releasing the trunk. There is no cable on the wrecked 96 at the trunk latch. My 2002 has a cable and no module.

Those pumps bypass almost constantly unless the rack is moving. Forcing a fluid between 2 plates can produce noises.

So I got my FSM disk in the mail and it appears that it's basically a copy of the above posted site link. Like he used the software oldnuc mentioned or something similar. Was it worth 13 dollars? I think. Here's to never needing it though.

I am excited for this work stretch to end to see the MPG for this tank. I used AC for one drive to work. And was bucking a 20-30mph head wind going to work for two days, took the city route home this morning to stop at Wally world for airfilters and coffee. Scangauge says in a solid 44mpg for the tank and have around 100 more miles till I'm done.

The hickup-miss is still present. So it's not plugs and wires. I will remove the ICM this off stretch and clean everything up and put coils on that don't have rusty iron bars on. Though I don't think I ever herd a Saturn idle smooth.

I also got one of those ball bearings used for the door stop rolling around and it's driving me nuts. My magnet probe can't find it. I think I'll throw a N type magnet down there on a string and see if I can catch it.

The factory radio sounds better than expected with real speekers in.

ICM may be defective but rust on the coil laminations tends to markedly reduce coil efficiency.

This module is for the remote keyless entry (RKE). It works with door fobs, power locks and BCM (Gen3) which your car was originally equipped. The option code on the sticker in the trunk spare tire cover is AU0. I don't have RKE but assuming your fob has remote trunk release then yes it would be related to your trunk latch.

thanks I figured that was it........I didn't recieve a FOB with my 96 so who knows.....it did have ABS, and traction control. both of which I will miss....but without any wheel speed sensors it will be a pain in the arse upgrade.

42.6mpg on this tank.....it was not the typical just too and from work. had to take city route home two mornings......of which traffic SUCKED this morning coming home.

The shudder miss I will try and rectify next....remove and clean ICM, swap in unrusty coils from the wreck, and clean the Throttle body and egr valve. And go junking for a door lock assembly and get rekeyed.....

Of late the server busy is getting annoying. Along with the advertising pop ups.
