If the BCM has failed the passlock light will flash and it will not start.

Most likely that's the cause of no start. Do the lights and other devices in the vehicle work? Interior lights, HVAC, radio, etc?

they say the motor cranks. i will not make an assumption that the light work. do you think they should work if the motor cranks? they say they have no security light.
the folks at cartalk dont seem to like saturns. they almost always have wrong info on common saturn issues.

1-If you were trying to make a comparison between two Vues with battery replacement and two different outcomes, there's no comparison. You didn't say the cartalk Vue has the problem before or after battery replacement and we presume your Vue was fine before battery replacement. As you are aware, we try to stress posting as much info as possible before anyone makes guesses. As Saturnfans, we tend to stay within our knowledge base with everyone sharing their experiences, knowledge and expertise. I try to use service manuals for references to ensure accuracy if I'm able to give comment on a problem. You did mention several issues with the problem Vue but without more info, it's anyone's guess and PortugalFocus already asked several questions that aren't answered.

2-If you feel cartalk doesn't seem knowledgeable about Saturns perhaps they're not worth listening or viewing. I joined two other Saturn forums - one bickered amongst themselves and wasn't friendly to anyone with a different point of view to the point of driving members away with very negative attitudes towards members. I left. The other forum is a boy's club with little boys attitude along with disrespect to anyone new. Those two Saturn forums are probably well known to some here so it's not worth mentioning site names.
Unfortunately, like politics with at least two media news organizations pointing out flaws of America's President and one organization completely siding with him, revelations of meddling in major social media to alter voters opinions by Russians has tainted this election that will plague America's President for the rest of his appointment. The safest places to view questions and answers about cars may be sites staffed by ASE certified mechanics/technicians or forums populated by many since it can be presumed many share info in a free exchange to help anyone looking for answers. Of three sites relating to Saturns, this place seems to be the best. No, there aren't many ASE techs here but a few have given help over the years to share their knowledge with dealer experiences while the rest of the members here fill in the gaps.

A similar mobile HVAC community that are staffed by pros experienced in vehicle HVAC systems answers questions from anyone. I found the site after searching around and impressed with their knowledge and empathy to share their professional skills. They don't have to as is often said, "giving away info that's their bread and butter to their livelyhood" is remarkable. People secure in their positions aren't afraid to share knowledge. Guess who won't share? A look into any dealer or repair shop is one hint.

2007 ION-2 Quad Coupe
Default Re: no start/new battery

A similar scenario happened to us after replacing the original battery in our Equinox. You probably just have a blown BCM-related fuse somewhere. Check the fuses in the interior fuse panel first, but one of the larger fuses in the underhood fuse block may be blown too.

The car won't run and the gauge cluster can't function without the BCM. This would explain why the fuel gauge isn't working and the no BCM connection issue.

The fuse(s) may have blown during a brief power surge that occurred during a jump start attempt or when the battery terminals were connected to the new battery while the key was in the the RUN or ACC position. This is plausible because in most newer GM vehicles, the key can't be removed after attempting to start the vehicle if the voltage gets too low.
