Default Wheel Bearing/Hub assembly

I'm curious to whether an OEM hub assembly includes the wheel bearing or not (front). I have a bad bearing and am considering changing both (one alignment and don't have to mess with it twice). What's the best option to avoid having to press the suckers?

The hub ASSEMBLY (if purchased from Saturn anyway) will include installed bearings as is ready to bolt into place.

I had a bad bearing and they had to replace the whole hub instead because they couldn't get the bearing out. Which cost a hell of a lot more. Just changing the bearing would be more cost effective.

Just to update everyone: The front hub DOES NOT include the bearing when purchased from just about everyone I tried. According to the Saturn parts manager, "in his 8 years of working there, he's never seen the hub assemblies include the bearing." However, the rear hub assemblies DO include the bearing.

It does get a little pricey

If you need the stock bearing pre-installed, you need to buy the front knuckle. A part which is connecting the tie-rod, lower ball-joint and the front strut.

The front bearings press into the knuckle. They will get damaged if they are pressed on wrong. They shouln't be a problem to press out. The hub then presses onto the bearing.

pressing them out is the fun part. depending on how damaged the wheel bearings are in the knuckle. last time i replaced my front wheel bearings, they were both cracked in half. the ball bearings fell out when we pressed them out. saturn sells the bearings and hubs seperately, but you can get a knuckles with the bearing installed. bring money.

Another reminder:
Though you can buy a front knuckle with the bearing pre-installed, you still need to manage to get the 'old' wheel hub out and press it back into the new knuckle.

If you buy the parts from dealer, see if they can press the hub for you free. Just ask and see....

when I did mine last I replaced the knuckles, bearings and hubs together. both left and right sides. so now I have spare knuckles and hubs with busted wheel bearings in them. at some point I will get the bearings pushed out of the knuckles.

I guess I should have been more clear. On the FRONTS, the KNUCKLE assembly comes WITH the bearings installed, the HUB fits INTO the knuckle assembly and can be reused unless damaged (which it rarely is)
