Default Parking Brake Control Handle 2005 Ion

A little while back the ratchet on my parking brake control stripped out. When I started looking for replacements , to my dismay I discovered that GM had already stopped supplying them. I really don't want to go the salvage yard part route, fearing that one obtained there wouldn't be in much better shape than the one I need to replace.

Just stumbled upon this in the last couple of days.https://www.carid.com/lokar/lokar-fl...387683099.html

Has anyone had to go this route? It looks like a well engineered piece, although it's about 50% more expensive than the last price on the OEM part.

Just a guess on my part but did you try cross referencing your (GM) part number to see if its used on other GM models?

You might be surprised. The Junkyards are well stocked with Ions. There are many people that Never use their emergency brakes.

Take a trip to a pull your own part JY and test those handles out. You will likely find one close to new.
