Default Finally installed GM Stage 2

Got my GMPP Stage 2 installed yesterday with the GM Stage 3 76mm pulley. Took it to the Chevy dealer today and got the tune flashed on it. The most I saw before on the stock pulley and ZZP catless downpipe was 12.7 PSI. Today on the way I home, I got on it in third and saw 15.4 PSI before I shut down. I'm looking forward to taking it to the dyno next month and see how much power I picked up!

To be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed. I was expecting a dramatic improvement, but the extra power seems mild at best. If you look at my earlier posts, you'll see my car was a "factory freak" in that it dynoed stock with 239 horsepower at the wheels and I think that's the problem. Had I come from a Red Line that dynoed around 200hp, I believe the Stage 2 would have been much more noticeable.

Gm underrated these engines, I've seen quite a few stock dyno runs above the rated power. I honestly think the gm tune is the problem. I want impressed with the stock redline I drove, but a supercharged 2.2 with stage 2 (the setup off the redline) was fast as hell with the right tune.

After having driven it a week now, it feels faster as if the PCM is "learning" with the new injectors, etc. Just yesterday, I pulled off briskly from a stop in second gear and it absolutely smoked the front tires. Before, I could give it full throttle in second gear and never break traction. My first fill-up is also arriving shortly and I'm anxious to see if I gained or lost fuel economy with the new setup.

Any update on the fuel economy? Really interested to hear how much the Stage 2 affects the drivability and practicality of the Redline. Looking at one right now with the same mileage as my LW2, 101,500, and need to know how livable the car is with the kit.

I never noticed a change in fuel economy. If I nailed it from every stoplight it might be different, but the fact is that you only use the supercharger's power for a fraction of the time the car is being driven.

Before Stage 2, I was getting 28.5 mpg. After living with Stage 2 for over a year, I can report that it now consistently returns 26.5 mpg. Personally, and I think anyone who has the Stage upgrade will agree with me, is that the Red Line should have come this way from the factory. Just recently, I swapped to a ZZP long-tube header and it was the second best upgrade I've ever done behind the Stage 2 kit. Whereas the Stage 2 brings in extra air and fuel, the header works in conjunction to open up the exhaust side. Since an engine is basically a glorified air pump, you have to get the air out as fast as you pull it in for maximum power. The extra torque from the Stage 2 and header is what really make the RL fun around town. It is sooo much more responsive and engaging.
