Default Please value 1993 SL2 48,286 miles

Leather seats, moon roof, air conditioning and all the electronics work well. I have the CARFAX and the vehicle is from a well known dealership, so I'm pretty sure the odometer reading is legit. A small area near one of the headlights appears to have been repaired... other than that, body is in nice shape.

Questions (not a Saturn person, googled for this forum)

How much is this car worth?
How many can I expect this car to go with reasonable (not religious) maintenance?
Repair costs?

When you test drive it and get the transmission warmed up, from a stop shift to reverse and see if it slams into gear. If not then the trans should be good if it drives forward OK. Go to the Edmunds site and punch in the data and your area to get a value. There is a slight premium for low mileage but not much. If it is a private seller ask for maintenance records and how much oil does it use. The transmission and oil consumption are the big issues. If it is as good as it should be you can expect 200,000+ miles or more. You will have an immediate expense replacing consumables that are decayed due to age alone. They are very cheap to keep running, and they get good gas mileage.

Why don't you just go to Kelly Blue Book?

I'll be sitting at my desk
With a gun in my hand, wearing a bulletproof vest singing
"My, my, my, how the time does fly, when you know you're going to die
By the end of the night."

because edmunds is better :P
KBB is based on listing prices, edmunds is based on purchase prices.

KBB and Edmunds are both lagging indicators of value and are a faint reflection of the local present value. If you want a feeling for the value you have to look at the local market, craigslist, used car lots, newspapers etc, and then adjust for the very low mileage. In some parts of the country you could not give it away and in others it will command a premium. In another year the car will be old enough to vote. Check the left side of the cradle, spare tire well, and the rear door sills for rust/rot.

Excellent points. This is why KBB and Edmonds have less and less significance as a car gets older. I remember one time I was looking for a 1993MB 190E and the local dealer had one with only 40k on it, but was asking $11,000!! That was almost DOUBLE what KBB and edmonds said it was worth, even considering the mileage. But because that car with that mileage was so hard to find, it went for roughly what they were asking (which kinda pissed me off!).

I bought my 1993 SL2 about 4 years ago with 58k on it. Saturns were moving slowly here in the SF Bay area then and the seller didn't present it real well. I got if for $2000 and some mechanic was suggesting it could have went for around $3000.

Yes, the books or their website will prevent getting taken but are a faint representation of the actual value in the local market.

Your car is desirable and i would love it,the problem is it is a 1993 car and that will hold any value off .its going to be worth much more to you to keep it and enjoy it than to sell it and maybe get $1500
I could be wrong:
