Default Hybrid battery reconditioning

I read online that some hybrid batteries are being reconditioned, and it extends the life of your battery and also helps restore it's charge/discharge capabilities. Has anybody tried doing this on a Saturn vue? Or has anybody figured out a way to be able to replace the battery pack with a substitute? I have a 2008 greenline vue, and I know someday the battery is gonna go and don't want to go to the dealer to pay a fortune. thanks

Worry about it when it starts to degrade.

Although I don't own a hybrid, your questions are intriguing to my inquisitive nature. After googling around, I found basic info to understand your hybrid operation and problems associated with maintenance. To start, if GM didn't redesign the battery cassette, yours uses nickel metal hydride batteries in three separate 12 volt packs. They are serviceable but require advanced technical capabilities to service these batteries. Online help is available if you are interested.

Here are two links to start; http://www.hybridcars.com/hybrid-car-battery/ and http://www.underhoodservice.com/powe...n-vue-hybrids/

I am just wondering if there are other alternatives, or should I just sell my vue now while everything is working good.

Sell a car while it's working fine ? Usual reason would be, it isn't.

One alternative (should you experience a failed battery) is a used one. I know there aren't a lot of these out there, but I check occasionally and there's always at least one on ebay. Right now there are two, both in the $400 range. Yes, they're used, but it's an option nonetheless. Battery problems for the BAS hybrids seem to have greatly diminished after the latest recall, which was more than 5 years ago.

I assume you had the battery recall campaigns performed on the car?
