You are correct. If it is a minor repair that is covered, the contract will not refund your money because you used it... I had several customers come in that had NOT used their contract yet, and were close to the experation of the contract. They told me to call them before calling the contract company because if it was less than what they would be getting back they would cover the repairs themselves. I was happy to do that for them. Just because you have the contract doesn't mean it will automatically be used. Also if the contract has a deductable and the cost of the repair is less than the deductable, then we wouldn't even bother calling the contract company... We'd just perform the repair and charge the customer what the repair actually cost.

When I bought my Outlook, I also opted for the extended warranty of 5 yrs/60,000 mi. Lots of gadgets and many are new to Saturn. I was able to push it down to $1095. After agreeing, the finance manager and I discussed it further and found that his "cost" was $995. And he wasn't going any lower. I feel good about having it though.

I saw the cost sheet. And I wasn't hooked at all. If I can sleep better at night that I have that insurance, so be it. To me it's worth it. I did the same thiing with my 2002 Honda Odyssey and it has paid off and then some. Yes, a Honda.

Don't buy one and hope you NEVER need it. I work in the biz and would never NOT have one, I have paid upwards of 1600 dollars for one, it's the nature of the beast for something to happen when you DON'T have one. And I am not talking Asian oil sludge either

I would have thought about it, but with the 5 yr 100K powertrain warranty, that is all that I would be concerned about. I mean, so what if the radio dies in 4 years, I can replace that-- but the powertrain is what costs $
