2001 L-Series 2.2L Sedan
Thumbs Down urrggg... 2001 saturn L200

Hi all,
I own a 2001 saturn L200, and have had many problems over the last year;

Had passenger stabelizer like replaced twice,
Pass lock sensor replaced,
O2 sensor replaced,
2 new batteries
brakes twice in less than 2 years
now having electrical problems
wont start when cold, jump started it starts right away
AC not working, Heater core leaks,
heater won't stay on in high speed
at around 80,000 km engine went, due to a bolt not torqued to proper torque, caused the timing chain to break, and many other problems in the engine. was a few days over the warranty, and saturn in toronto said i would have to pay. called GM Customer care, and complained, they called saturn and got them to fix it. the final bill for repair was around 4000 bucks.
when the repairs were done, my car had only 42,000 km on it??? when it went in with like 81,500km. No one had a clue as to what had happened.

Had the same problem in my previous saturn (98 sl1)

My newest problem is now that it doesn't start when the temp drops below 5 degrees celsius. big problem since it is now winter. have to jump start to get it running.

any one have any ideas on how to remedy this?

Saturn said replace the crank position sensor. tried... didn't work

will i buy another saturn???
NO... probably not even another GM vehicle

2 Saturns.... 2 Strikes.... not going to strike out with a 3rd..

That's a lot of stuff, dearan... I can completely understand your frustration and I think I'd be more upset. I own a 2003 L300 and now have 61K miles and it hasn't had anywhere near that many problems. But I live in a very moderate climate and keep it in a garage. I believe that can really extend the life of a car.

Why two batteries? What happened? Note that Saturn doesnt make the battery, and if it failed within that short of time you should have gotten some rebate. Heater cores can be $ to change. I also have a 92 Isuzu Amigo and it was $1000 to replace it

Tell them if it only has 41K then it is still under warranty and all repairs should have been free

I owned a 1998 SC2 and it ran like a champ btw. When I gave it away with 134,000 miles, it had only had minor repairs. I did replace the O2 sensor on it once when I got a check engine light. My parents now own it and they did have to change the crankshaft position sensor once. That thing is a time bomb waiting to strand someone.

no, its an eliminator battery, replaced the second time under battery warranty. it was replaced to rule out that that was the problem.

im not to worried about the heater core, auxilary heater will do for this winter.
