1999 SL2
Default Strut/Strut Mount Problems

Hey everyone-

I have a 99 SL2 and its wheels keep coming out of alignment. Supposedly, a good year shop told me that the reason it keeps coming out of alignment is because of the strut mounts. I thought that was weird because I just replaced both front struts/mounts/springs a couple years ago and I'm keeping the wheels unaligned for now because I didn't think it would make sense to replace the mounts if I just recently replaced them.

Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Will I have to replace the mounts?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah - that sounds like BS. I think the ball bearings would have to be spilling out of your Mounts for them to be bad enough to mess up your alignment.

Agree with the above, but to probe further, which aspect(s) of your alignment are changing? Camber changes can occur if the strut to knuckle bolts are not tight enough. Failing ball joints will allow camber to change almost constantly.

I don't know whether it's camber, caster, or toe, all I know is that it's misaligned. I don't think it's loose knuckle nuts but could it possibly be the CV joint? I think my left one needs to be replaced. I sometimes hear a popping noise when turning at a low speed. Thoughts?
