Default SaturnParts.net

I cannot stand SaturnParts.net.

The first time i dealt with them, i bought a VSS for my 96 sc2. i ordered it online and checked out, and the total was $9.xx and it showed there was $0 for shipping. A few days later, i noticed they actually charged me $18.xx, since they went back and added shipping to the bill later. They wouldn't respond to my emails questioning why they did that.

Then recently i emailed them in regards to ordering a set of black floormats with the saturn logo emroidered on them. They emailed me back and gave me a price and the part number. A few weeks later, i tried to order that part number through thier online system, and there is no place to choose that part number since it was a special order. So, i called them to order it over the phone, and the guy who picked up said that he can't take an order over the phone, and the only way to order was online. I told him the online system had no place that allows me to order a specific special order part, and he said to just respond to the email in which i was quoted a price. So i emailed them back saying i wanted to order it and where to ship it... all the info they need EXCEPT my credit card info. I told them that i am not comfortable just emailing it to some random people, and for them to call me for the credit card number over the phone or tell me a secure site to enter my credit info (their actual email address is colmasaturn@ sbcglobal.net which doesn't sound like a business email... you'd think it would be @saturnparts.net). So i waited 2 weeks and never got an email back! I emailed them again yesterday morning and again, haven't heard back! WTF????

Just venting my frustration, and warning others about dealing with them. Anyone else have issues with those guys???

Saturnparts.net is Saturn of Colma (CA?). It's not unusual for smaller businesses to have Email addresses that aren't in their "branded" domain. Not good business practice ("looks cheap", IMHO), but unfortunately, not unusual.

Still, you're right about Emailing a credit card number. At the VERY least, "munge" it, as in: FIVE32NINE 9SEVEN3SIX etc... 'Course, I wouldn't read off a credit card number over the phone to someone who called _me_. I'd initiate the call, and verify that it's a legit number for the business. And of course, in the case of any transaction like this, your best protection is to check your bill thoroughly.

Paypal is another possibility.

But more to the point -- they shouldn't have ripped you off with the shipping on the VSS. And if they don't reply to a request by which they could MAKE a sale, big whoop; presume they don't want your business and take it elsewhere. Clean, fairly fresh floormats are pretty easy pickings at the salvage yards 'round here, BTW.

They've been good to me, and I've ordered numerous times. That's the way they are with shipping, it's added later on to the total. They will tell you ahead of time what it'll be if you ask them.

Personally I'd rather be told the price of shipping ahead of time, even if its more expensive, then have it "pop up" after I think I've fully paid for it. Any other place I purchase stuff from they have the price for s/h listed, even if its a standard thing (not based on specific weight, but on a range of weights).

it just seems like some guy is running the place out of his basement, that's the kind of service i have gotten. the guy still has not emailed me back, i am trying to buy something from him and he won't even contact me back.

i highly recommend staying away from saturnparts.net... if they won't email you back when you are trying to buy something, imagine if you already bought something and had a problem. do you think they are going to get back to you?

There is another invention out there, it came out just before e-mail, it's called a telephone. Pick up the phone and push the number six then a five then a zero, followed by a nine then an eight then a five and another five, a zero, a three then finally a two. When the nice lady answers the phone, ask for the parts department.

I've bought from them on numerous occasions, never had a real problem. I did get a head gasket once that had a cut across it. I called them up and had a replacement on my front door the next day.

I also get my orders with in 48 hours of ordering, usually 24 if I place my order in the morning.

Way to dig up an old post. What, 3 months.

And as we all know. The best place to get brand new OEM parts is from auto parts stores, eBay or junkyards.

To this day, I've never had anything but perfect service from saturnparts.net.

Yeah, saturnparts.net blows.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from them almost 3 WEEKS AGO and am still waiting on the parts. Contacted them several times. When I log onto the website to check my order status it still says "processing". No EMAILS or phone calls of explanation from them!

When I try to cancel my order through their system it fails and reports some technical error.

I've never had a lick of trouble from them. Parts arrived promptly, well packaged and the price was decent.

Found this old thread on accident

Recently ordered from saturnparts.net and have ordered previously with no issues, prices are much better than local dealerships.

Had called Saturn of Colma, and knew that item was out of stock, would have to be ordered, 5 business days etc., and told by the parts guy
at the Colma dealership that I could only order through the trademotion (saturnparts.net) website, ordered immediately, (Tuesday).

The problem was that they didn't order the part for three days. Saturnparts.net waited until Friday to place my order. Found this out the following Tuesday after calling to find out about order, since no further emails from saturnparts.net.

Ivan, who takes the orders from the online site did not think anything wrong about waiting three days to order a part, didn't even offer any sort of apology, and he's the manager of parts at this dealership so complaining is useless as his bosses don't care either. Don't think Ivan would keep his job long if waiting 3 days before ordering was the norm on all parts orders.

Will probably avoid saturnparts.net in future, even though they're 30 miles away.

FYI if anyone is south SF bayarea needs a part from the dealer,
here's 15% off coupon on parts
http://www.saturnofcapitolexpressway...ials/parts.htm

for some reason coupon image doesn't print on either firefox and IE,

You have two options: press the PrintScreen key to capture the entire screen or press Alt + PrintScreen to capture only the active window. This copies the image to the Clipboard. Insert the image using the paste function (Ctrl + V) into Microsoft Word, WordPad, or another application for printing.

Most dealerships do their special orders on only one or two days of the week, every week. It's standard practice in the industry, which is why the parts guy didn't se it as an issue. If you needed the part right now, you wouldn't be online ordering it, you'd be standing in someone's face getting it right away. The only way Saturn Corp. will overnight product to a dealership for free is if there is a vehicle in the shop overnight that has to have that part. If they get caught abusing the system, they'll lose it. If you had placed that order on Thursday and they ordered it Friday they would have been heroes. Nothing out of the ordinary for them to do their entire order for the week all at once on one day of the week.
I tried to order once from saturnparts.net. I wanted a silver SATURN script for my rear bumper of my Ion. Went through the entire order process only to be told they're out of stock and won't be replenished. TAKE IT OFF THE WEBSITE THEN. I would never order from an outfit that doesn't give you the grand total before you enter your cc information. Adding on shipping after the fact is awful, it's not like they can't at least estimate the shipping online.

I havent been there in a loooooon time. Is Gus still working behind the parts counter?

It got to the point that I was there so often getting parts for Saturns I was fixing, they would let me go back and pull the parts. They's also ask me how to fix stuff on cars they had in the shop. I remember one time they couldnt fiqure out how to get the rear seat bottom out of a '93 SL2.
