Default Every Automaker has Problems

Engine Problem forces Honda Recall

Just a reminder to us Outlook owners that no one is exempt from mechanical problems. Let's just hope that the renegade Saturn Service Managers (see Gwenzilla) get their act together quickly. Perception is reality. I bet even after several recalls in the last year, Honda owners shrug this off as an anomaly.

True statement. I saw on the news the other night Honda was recalling thousands of Accords and Acura TLs. Recalls will happen and I'm glad GM is cathching the issues early rather than years later and after thousands of vehicle sales.
I firmly believe we all have a great vehicle and many enjoyable years to come.

True enough that all automakers have issues, but a "major national consumer magazine" (everyone knows that's code for Consumer Reports, right?) just recommended ALL of the Honda models that it reviewed last year. GM did not fair nearly so well.

GM is making strides, but if it had ONLY the amount of issues that Honda does, I think it would jump up and down. I thought that CR's anaylsis of the situation was insighful. They said something like that in the 90's, American car makers were focused on things like finance and ignored the fact that their product was non-competitive. While the domestics are now trying to remedy this situation, it will take time.

I wish them well, and have voted with my dollars to buy a new GM. I hope I am not disappointed in the long haul (by the way, I still like it a lot).

Now, don't get me started on my experiences with GMAC in relation to my transaction...
