If you can't find the resistor board on rockauto website call them at 1-866-762-5288. Phone lines are open daily for several hours.

I got a replacement resistor board in the mail today. Put it it in and both problems are gone. Fan speed #1 works and the a/c now works on all fan speeds. The a/c compressor no longer cycles..I watched it for 10mins straitgh and I did not do that cycling thing from before. It blows cold air quickly and I'm quite happy because It's going to be hot the next 10 days.

Just for kicks I put the old resistor board back in and the same old problems come back...so there's a definite relation.

I still want to do a pressure test just in case and maybe fill the a/c coolant up..

Is it worth it? Does a 7 year old Vue need to get a/c coolant added?

Thanks.
OK, I have the exact same issue with my 03 Vue......... Where's this resistor board located? I see FDRYER said "behind the blower motor" ........ is that under the hood or under the I/P somewhere?

Inside vehicle cabin - right side - above passengers feet - below and behind glove-box.

There's a close-out panel to be removed.

I've not changed one of these things but with my age and bad-back it'd take a large dent in a six-pack (including pre- and post-task contemplation).

Someone younger, more fit and less inclined to forget why they were upside down in the front passenger foot-well ... 30 minutes at most.

The blower resistor card swap fixed my issue. Same issues as the original poster. You will need either an 8mm or a 5/16 wrench and i used flip flops for my knees. The back bolt is a pain but if you use a 1/4 drive ratchet it is good. the plastic bump in the way moves back easily enough. It took about 10 minutes of total time working it out. Part was 80 dollars at the dealer in Va Bch,Va. Would never have thought of this without the help of everyone in this forum.

I'm a bit less flexible. It took me almost 15 minutes of cussing. The 'bump' was a pain (also my knees). I'm surprised it was out in 'plain sight' like that. NOT like my spark plugs.

Thanks to all!

Default Re: A/C will only work on low fan speed

I have 2006 Saturn Vue with the V6.

The fan was blowing at all settings (low to high) but the AC light was only lighting up when on 1 (lowest) or 2(low). Once I turned fan to 3 or higher, the blower continued to work and blow higher, but the orange AC light went off and no condenser engaging.

I replaced the blower motor resister as explained above and it fixed my issue!

Thank you so much for these posts and forums.

Tom
