1993 SW2
Default '93 DOHC Engine - 3 Rebuilding Questions

Is there supposed to be any clearance or gap after you've assembled the head & cams between the lowest point of the cam lobe and the lifter? Once again the Chilton book on my Saturn shows a picture where they're measuring that gap with a feeler gauge. Can't find anything else relating to a spec for this if there is one.

My second question is related to assembling the oil pump assembly. The books I have state that the 4 bolts that hold the oil pump plate to the front timing chain cover use thread sealant to prevent oil leaking. My question is this, is there supposed to be any bead of sealant applied between the timing chain front cover and the oil pump plate near the edge of the plate.

When manifold studs are inserted & threaded into the head, is it OK to use Red thread locker #243 or red #271 on them?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
