I'm quite surprised.
Buick Enclave base prices were released today: CX: $32,790 CXL: $34,990 My site's analysis finds that the Buick Enclave checks in about $550 BELOW the GMC Acadia after adjusting for feature differences. MSRP starts $2,800higher, but the Buick has about $3,350 in extra standard equipment. The CXL compared to the CX costs $2,200 more, and includes $1,800 in additional features, plus one inch larger wheels. Compard to the Outlook, the Enclave starts $4,800 higher, and includes $3,925 in additional features. So the Saturn is priced lower, but you also won't get as large (or even any) discount at a Saturn dealer. Enclave data (just base prices and standard features, no options except AWD) will be on the server tomorrow under the 2007 model year (haven't created a 2008 database yet).

I forgot to mention that the Enclave has a longer standard warranty than the others, 4/50 vs. 3/36. This is not included in the value comparison.

When eligible for a discount GM or Supplier the price is the price. You will pay that to the cent not a penny more! With that being said the Buick compared to the GMC or the Saturn is higher by far (comprably equipped) I know it sounds crazy, but believe it or not people would pay more for great service, there is value to be had in that. I am only saying that to offer something to the one or two times the Outlook might price out more than an Acadia by a couple hundred dollars. |

The drive out price will end up being cheaper for more options on the Enclave and Acadia vs. the Outlook. Dealer will deal and will have too, to move them. Its a nice vehicle, but its still an SUV.
Sticker price doesnt mean anything except on the Outlook.

Saturn will have to push strip versions to make the price seem better. People can and will use the fleet sales option to buy the Acadia. You probable have only a year or so before the Chevy version comes out. People will always go for the best bang for the buck when offer similar vehicles. I don't want to here about the buying experience because these should be vehicles that shouldn't have to go back to the dealer. I've only had to bring my 97 Pontiac GP back to the dealer one time in ten years for a factory recall. (Steering Rack issue) 200k miles on the odometer. I would expect know less out any of this trio.

If you can get that much more off the Buick and GMC (seems very likely) then the Outlook's out the door price will probably be the highest. As someone else noted, the Saturn will only be cheapest if you option it below the standard features level of the others. Enclave is in the database, as a 2007 for now, no options pricing: Vehicle price comparisons

If I were to be wrong on this I would bow out but I actually know what I am talking about here.....go figure ![]() I have the ability to sell all Outlooks at a supplier discount, it's not very difficult every GM employee has a friends and family discount they can give out anyways. If you really think that the Enclave is going to be cheaper you are kidding yourself! We have already had this experiment with the van bust, and yes $ for $ the Saturn Relay was the least expensive period. I have done the math on the Buick, we always do to see what pays the most ![]() This comparison is on a FWD Outlook with leather, roof and DVD with a Buick that's comparable. What it really comes down to is that people are going to buy what they want! My wife wants an Outlook, she will with time get one, nothing I can do to stop it. We have just paid off our DTS and I loved the idea of having NO car payment but the fact is that what someone wants someone gets. So weather it is a Saturn, Buick or a GMC there is an ass for every seat, a plus and a minus in either case, it has and always will come down to personal preferance and the fact that we have spent this much time conversing on the pricing of the Lamda hopefully bodes well for it's future. ![]() |

The Enclave has standard xenon headlamps and power tailgate. Are those on the Outlook you configured, or are you ignoring those features? Their typical valus is about $900.

Power Liftgate was factored but not HID's, I don't know that would be a "deal-breaker" to most for the $$

"there is an ass for every seat"
lol, I wouldn't have believed that until I saw it. There is always that car that is racking up 40,60,85 days, that NOBODY wants, and sure enough you hear" "ooo, I like that one over there!"

Fleet pricing may be gone but old fashion dealing is not. No one is going to pay sticker for a FWD SUV. There will be deals on top of incentives to move these vehicles. GM is not at the point where they can sell any of there vehicles at sticker. No even the vette. The Solstice and Sky may be the exception because of volume. One plus for the Acadia is that they may actually take some sales from the Tahoe/Yukon ![]() ![]()

And you are right NOBODY pays sticker for anything....not even at Honda/Toyota! That is one of the reasons I hook everyone I sell a car to that doesn't have a discount with the Supplier discount, it's as much what the sales people do for the customer sometimes than what the customer does themself. I know that most of the customers that I sell with the discount, I could have sold without it, but I believe everyone should get something ![]() |

I don't think it matters as much what optioned out is the best value on paper. I mean, if that was the case that Americans looked for the best value on paper then the Japanese wouldn't still be making the most profit right now or at the least significantly more than the domestics IMO.
I think looks (Buick looks most differernt), availibility, warranty (on the Buick), service (Saturn) and 50 other reasons matter too. Some people just won't pay $35K-$40K for the Saturn because it is a Saturn. Smartly, the Enclave and Acadia look different since they will be on the same lots. The Saturn looks more like the Acadia but will have "Saturn Service" which I do think is different since I own a Saturn and a GMC. I just wish the Acadia would have been available with the same 4 wheel drive system as the Envoy. Probably not possible because the Envoy is rear wheel drive and the Acadia front wheel drive. But nothing should be impossible with a brand new platform where those thoughts should have been going through their head. I have had an Envoy with 4WD since 2002 and it is great in the snow, I mean really great from my experience and I just don't see AWD as being nearly as good in the snow but this is being said as someone who has not really driven an AWD vehicle that I can remember so it is based soley on perception I will admit. Though with the way it has been mild lately maybe AWD would be plenty. |

The main difference from the Envoy system is no low range. Do you often use low range in the snow? If not, AWD will work just as well.
A key variable is the tires. The Envoy's tires may be better suited to the snow, if they're all-terrain tires. Get winter tires for an AWD Lambda and it should plow through just about any snow.
