I put a set of HIR lamps in my low beams and love them.
No extra heat or current, whiter(not that blueish crap),
75% brighter than stock, no short life, and the HIR low
beam puts out more light than a standard high beam.

That would be anti-social as well as dangerous. Car dealers and most service garages can check and possibly re-aim headlights rather quickly and for low cost. You could also do this yourself if you have patience and a nice dark level area in front of a wall or the like.
I forgot to mention that adjusting the headlights up and down is very easy. The adjusters are located at the top of each headlamp assembly between the low beam bulb and the turn signal bulb, and the adjusters are accessible when the hood is raised. They look like a small gray 6-pointed star with a silver bolt behind pointed toward the windshield. We need to use a Torx E8 socket to turn the adjusters. The "E" means external.

I've tryed

Silverstars= no better then stock
Silverstar Ultras= hardly better then stock
Nighthawks= no better then stock
CUZO Hyper white= worthless
NOKYA Arctic white= worthless

and ended up with MATRIX Ultra whites from Summit racing at the cost of $15.95 a pair. I have the 80w low beams 100w high beam. I adjusted my lamps a touch lower and the lighting is outstanding. I had MATRIX in my 2001 SL2 and when I sold it I put those bulbs in my wifes 2006 VUE. When I sold the VUE we put them in my SONS 2007 Redline VUE. I have MATRIX 9007 UltraWhite in two of the four ION3's here at the house including the fog lamps

I installed a pair of lowbeam HIRs on my 04 Vue, and after just one year one of the bulbs blew up inside the headlight assembly and I could never get all the frangments out... I'll stick with the stock bulbs.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but could I use the 3157 LED bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs.com in place of the 3057s the Vue uses for brake and rear lights?

Curious to the difference between the 2825 Bulbs (or lamps as GE refers to them) & the 194/168.

I'm surprised that LED's were not used in the dash & other hard to maintain areas.

Besides the bulb fitment (meaning the grooves inside the base of the bulbs that are present to prevent us from doing this), there are two primary differences in the characteristics of the bulbs. First, low beam bulbs are usually rated at 55 watts while high beam bulbs are rated at 65 watts, about an 18% increase in wattage. Second, low beam bulbs have some sort of painted "cap" at the end of the bulb so light is emitted from just the sides of the bulb while the high beam bulbs lack this "cap" so light is emitted from all sides of the bulb. Either of these differences generally mean the high beam bulbs give off more more light.

No, the pattern on the road did not change.

I did a similar mod on the Camaro foglamps by removing the glass & then the metal reflector, but the beam pattern did change, now throws the lights farther down the road illuminating far off freeway signs, I could go back now by just replacing the bulb with the equivalant bulb with a painted cap to go back to the original beam pattern... or at least I assume.

I was thinking there was a metal reflector within the Vue's headlamp housing.

A side note I did not see on the bulb conversion charts, but I had looked up once upon a time elsewhere, a great sub for the 194/168 bulb is the 161, burns cooler & longer with little or no sacrifice in light output. These are HTF, I had to get these in bulk through my local radio supply (which went under last year)

Chrysler used to use the 161 in dash applications.

I just briefly skimmed through this thread and see that no one has listed the p/n for the gauge cluster illumination.

The p/n for these bulbs (including opera lights) is Wagner # PC118. This should be correct for all 2002-2007 Vue, 2000-2002 S-Series, and 2000-2005 L-Series.

Wow, does that bring back some memories...used to stock about 40 of each type (91-94, 95-97, 98 and up, and some of the internal-fan 97s) back in hot hot hot AZ, and we'd go through them in less than a week. Sometimes my core batch was almost a whole cage of alternators alone...and next to that, a stack of prorated batteries. You could hear those bad alternators a block away, too, and if you were really good, could tell the difference from that or a bad idler pulley.

I just tried to replace my back up lights on my 2007 Vue, and it appears that the back up lights use the same double filament bulbs as the brake lights.

So for anyone with an 07 attempting to replace a back up light beware that you will need 3057 NOT 3156 bulbs.

Just changed my Sliverstar head light out which only lasted a year in a half with Philips CrystalVision Ultra http://www.lighting.philips.com/us_e...30&id=&lang=en

I have used Philips in the past they last forever compared to the Sliverstars and they are whiter/brigter than Sliverstars.

How do I change the fog laps in the 06 VUE?
