A tip is try eBay or superbrightleds.com for CHEAP LED replacement lights that have a brighter light, with a lower power consumption. IMHO the 194 replacement LEDS look really nice against a Vue at night for your license plate. Complement those with replacement bulbs or even a 4300-5000K HID conversion KIT and you have an instant hit with your Vue. Also, changing the Reverse lights to BRIGHT white ones only help aesthethically. These are cheap and easy to DIY mods, and will help really bring your car outta the cheap GM plastic look. Happy modding!

If I missed something, or made a mistake please post below, I thikn some peopel say that the fogs on the 06 vues are H7s, but this what I researched and found. Happy modding!

BTW, using the 9005 in your 9006 is a GREAT mod if you don't want to get the HID kit.

I have often considered doing just that, how hard is it to midify the bulb/opening to get it to go in?

I have to disagree on your listing for the fog lights on the 06 Vue. Mine has H11's in there at 55 watts, not the normal 27.5 watt version. It's not fun finding a nice bright white light, but I have found them.

Has anyone here done a LED swap for the tail lights? Legality being a non-issue for now, I just want to know if it's worth it/if they work.

Edit: Oops, already found a thread for it.

Okay well here, I'll link a picture, and then all you have to do, is shave it down with a razor blade, or a thin screw driver thats sharp, or an exacto knife blade, or a retractable...well you get the picture. A razor blade works best, and keep shaving it down until it fits in the holder snuggly. It doesn't have to be a perfect click, though if it is, you did a good job sanding . Test the bulbs by turing the power on through them to see if they flow.

Why using a 9005 bulb: 9005 bulbs are 65W and are not capped at the end, 9006 bulbs are 55W and have a cap at the end. You have to slightly modify the 9005 bulb to fit the 9006 socket. A 9005 bulb has 70% more lumens than the 9006 (1700 lumens vs 1000 lumens). HID has 3200 lumens.

Here's a pic of the bulb exactly.

What you have to do, is check the AIMING (check your manual) basically look at a white wall and see if your lighting is even. The colour and intensity WILL surprise you , it actualy may want to make you drive at night more often.

not sure you can replace those. I was thinking about puting blue bulbs in for the lights that light up the front of the dash, but once I got it opened up, I was dissapointed to see that they are soldered onto the board. Not sure if they can be replaced. Or if they would ever burn out.

Also, did the 9005/9006 swap with my silverstars and am absolutely lovin' it.

Can't you just take a 9005 harness and cut 9006 end off and solder the 9005 end on?

yeah, but it's a heck of a lot easier to shave the inside on the bulb connection with my dremel. Reversable too.

I removed the instrument cluster and was able to twist out the little fixtures the bulbs are in, so they are definitely replaceable... I just can't find the replacement #'s anywhere.

So are you basically modifying the low beam? If so, does it actually make the VUE 'safe' for night driving?

(I got the dealership to check my low beams and told them it's currenly unsafe for driving on highways unless i'm doing 60km/h (highways are 80km/h)

Any rate, they found one light socket was loose, and adjusted, but they still have an extremely short range.

I'm currently looking at options/mods that I can do to increase a safer low beam cast (like on my dads cargo van)... or is it no possible because of the placement of the headlights? (how they are placed high/horizontal).

thanks,

jg

I suppose I could look, but how easy is it to replace a low beam light bulb? I like the idea of modifying a 9005 and slapping it in there... Canadian Tire is calling me...come ...come....$24CDN/each is pricey (Silverstars), especially considering there is nothing wrong with my lights...my high beams blinded me on a road trip through the mountains a week ago....(beam would hit a road sign and the reflection had me ducking for cover). LOL

I used to use the Blues, now I use silverstars and probably won't use anything else until I get HID.

Before anyone tells me to RTFM, I was able to get the lights out without unscrewing the front...knew small fingers would come in handy one day...
I went with the Blues..as they were half the price, but the same Lumen #...can't figure that one out (price difference between high and low front beam lights is another mystery). Anyway, will post of photo, if I remember of the brightness difference between stock sylvania's 9006 and cool blue 9005 (front low lamps). See if all this chattering is worth the effort....ok, I am bored, nothing better to do...LOL
