Hello! I some cheap LED headlight bulbs several weeks ago and installed them in my 2004 Vue, 2.2 FWD MT. The light they throw is great, and when the headlight switch is turned on they work flawlessly. However, during the day when the headlight switch is off, the daytime running lights (along with the DRL indicator on the instrument panel) flash constantly in an uneven pattern.
Here they are: https://a.co/d/enDLwm7 In an attempt to troubleshoot, I removed the bulb in one socket to test with just one. I then replaced that bulb and removed the bulb in the other socket. In each case the problem was still there, though slightly different. When trying them one at a time the daytime running lights flashed at a speed that gradually increased over the course of 20 seconds and then just shut off (as if they had blown). Yet when I turned the headlight switch on they were fine again. I have now put the original halogen bulbs back in until I can figure this out. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this, and if anything can be done the make those cheap LED bulbs work? I'm considering trying to PWM module but the fact that they work perfectly with the headlight switch on is throwing me for a look. Thank you! |

I just ordered a PWM module which I'm confident will help solve the problem. Still I'd like to hear your thoughts on the difference between the power supplied while the headlights are switched-on versus when the daytime running lights are on.

I unplugged my daylight sensor and now my LEDs are on all the time with no flashing. Never even touch the switch anymore. Works great.

That's a great idea. Is the sensor on the dashboard, passenger side? Can I access the connector for that through the glove box opening?

Dont know if the Vue is wired the same or not. On the L Series when in DRL mode the power is reduced to 6V to the bulbs. Most if not all LED's require close to 12V to operate. I tried several different LED's, some not so cheap. None of them worked. What exactly is the PWM you ordered? Curious if it worked or not.

Sorry for the delay everyone! I'm going to try unplugging the sensor tonight.
I purchased this right here: https://a.co/d/h4pD1Jq BUT they sent me the wrong one with an H11 socket so I never got to try it. Thanks again for the help. |
