About one month ago, December 22, 2021, the Saturnfans community lost another member, A2Saturn. Scott passed after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer.
Scott took care of his beloved 1994 Sl1 since the day he purchased it new, traveling a total of 492,000 miles with it. He strived to keep the car in perfect cosmetic condition, as well as in driving order. He was a true Saturn fan, from the beginning to the end. Not only was Scott a Saturn fan, but he was a genuine person as well. Every interaction, meeting, and discussion I had with Scott was pleasant and refreshing. He always went above and beyond to help locate parts for our aging cars, and even went as far as delivering them when he was in the area. I can personally say that I have never met another soul like Scott, and I will surely miss him. May Scott rest in peace. ![]()

Truly is a great loss for the community. Hopefully his family is taking good care of the sl1 for him. Rest in peace, Scott

I did not know that Scott had passed away. I text messaged a bunch of pictures to him a few days ago thinking he might want them. We would keep in touch through text messages ever since becoming friends. He is truly deserving of all the kind and complementary things said about him and more.
He, by coincidental chance, was one of my spot & shots on the day after I was unable to attend the 2017 Larz Anderson extinct car show in Boston. Scott traveled a lot in his teal SL1 and I happen to see him heading south through Connecticut and after posting pics of an immaculate SL1 in the Spot & Shot thread, I suddenly then figured out that this might be the guy coming all the way from Indiana to attend the Boston car show, I was able to message him and meet him at the McDonald's in Fairfield, CT monday morning before I went to work and Scott continued on one of his many multi-day trips to different points around the country. He must have had a friend in every state because if I remember right he was going to visit one in Georgia as his next stop. Scott attended all successive Larz Anderson Extinct Car shows since, although this crazy pandemic messed up one over a year ago. Almost 400,000 miles divided by 25+ years is a lot of driving and resulted in a lot of dividends from his gen 1 SL1. I like to think that we all end up in heaven in our next life and we share the same interests and enjoy the high points of our existence such as meeting exceptional people and going to car shows and making friends, etc. except that we do all the things we love as better and perfect versions of ourselves without any of the negatives. If that's true then Scott will be still traveling the country and attending our car show/get-togethers except that he'll be pretty much unchanged. See you at the next lawn event in the Saturn section friend! 42B3F37F-529A-402B-938B-691F32710A5D.jpg

That's a lot of miles of fun he had in an off the showroom floor car. Sad to see that one of the enthusiasts of these cars is no longer around to share his passion for them.
I'll continue donating resources to Folding @ Home to research Cancer and many of the other crap things we deal with in modern life. Any of you with a decent computer should consider the same. It might help the next Saturnfan live longer, or have a better life. We can only hope.

rest in peace Scott.
I was privileged to meet him once. He had contacted me because he had an outer door skin that matches my teal 95 that is nearly impossible to find. He was passing thru St Louis so we met up at the local sub shop for lunch and Saturn stories. His car was VERY nice. Highmile '95 SL1 745k and counting |

Did some math and remembering. So over 27 years of ownership Scott averaged 18,300+/- miles per year on his SL1. I remember meeting him in October 2018 at the Larz Anderson event and he had 414,000 miles on his Saturn at that time (I seem to have that number in my head for some reason). This means for the last three years he put another 80,000 on the car or averaging 26,666 miles per year (knocking his yearly average mileage down to 17,2500 for the first 24 years).
I like to think that he was traveling around and really enjoying his time behind the wheel of his pretty little Saturn for the last three years. At the 2019 Larz Anderson event he gave me a Saturn of Ann Arbor license frame and we put it on the front of my car then and there. He also had a Seatbelt unit for me he knew I needed from a thread that he picked and pulled. Can't say enough about Scott. Good guy!

It was an honor to meet such a great individual. He was a regular at Lars Anderson. He saw my drivers side door card, and the next year brought me an exact match from a pick and pull, in excellent condition. He would show up with his car full of parts for the Larz crowd. He would PM me when something came up on E Bay that I was looking for. We exchanged Christmas cards for years, (He worked for Hallmark) with a personal Saturn story note inside every year. I hope he received and was able to read my card, this past December. I did not receive one from him last holiday season. Now I know why. So sad. Such a great man, and he will be missed by the Saturn community. Always pleasant and upbeat. Always looking out for others. Not only was he dedicated to the brand, but more importantly the Saturn community and everyone he met. One year, 2017, at Larz, it was three of us, Scott, Karl, and myself. The next couple of years, he was so excited to see more younger people becoming fans of the Saturn brand and making it to the event.
RIP Scott. |

Oof... I never met any of you all in here but it saddens me so much each time i read such news.
Sadly there are not so many younger fans to hold the flame. It's hurtful to lose any of you. You all seem so passionate and having the heart on the hand or whatever the good translation is (I speak French). I'm not sure if i ever read him or replied to him in the forums, but i'm sure i would have liked him like all of you. ![]()

Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be able to bring Scott's 1994 Sl1 home.
For the remainder of it's life, it will be garage kept and driven occasionally (weather permitting). I intend to bring it to Boston in the fall to honor Scott and his dedication to keeping this car on the road. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's really a great thing! I am glad that Scott's enthusiasm for his car is going to continue on. Lots of happiness in my heart right now. Scott has to be smiling up in heaven right now.

Excellent news! Really glad that someone from the Saturn community here got the car. Scott would be very happy. Thank you, and hope to see you this fall.
