Default 96 SL2 Alignment Questions

I have a few questions about my alignment. I recently took my car to a local shop for a front end alignment for $60. The guy told me I need a 4 wheel alignment which is only $10 more. He then tells me that I need some aftermarket camber kits for the rear wheels and he needs to remove my strut to elongate the holes to fix the caster on the driver front wheel. Total bill now is $300. Is this normal stuff or is he trying to take me for a ride? Here are the alignment readings he gave me.

Left Front Right Front

Camber -0.4 -0.5

Caster 2.7 2.5

Toe 0.04 0.07

Left Rear Right Rear

Camber -1.4 -1.2

Toe 0.17 0.25

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

he's riding you. $300 is insane. You don't need a camber kit. The holes in the struts can be ground to provide more camber adjustment. more or less caster involves the holes on top of the strut towers so yes they would need to lower the struts to grind the three holes. a 4-wheel alignment normally costs like $89 at a Saturn store. I got a coupon from my Saturn retailer for $59.

Do you think it's gonna cost more for them to do the grinding and stuff or should that be part of the alignment? I've never had to have any of this done. Normally I just get a front end alignment.

Thanks,
Jbrink

with labor it might be $150 tops. always get a 4-wheel alignment on your Saturn since the front and rear are adjustable. 2-wheel (front) alignments are for cars and trucks with solid rear axles.

Rear camber nubmers are fine.
Just have them set the toes.

But definately a different store, and yes to 4 wheel alignment.
