Default cts location

I tapped my 97 engine's head in the spot where the cts for the dash gauge is in the 94 heads.
I keep getting high temperature readings(3/4 of the way to the red).
I know this isnt "overheating",but it pisses me off.
I have a new radiator, water pump, thermostat. Is it just the location of the sensor?
my fan comes on with the ac. I dont personally believe my car gets that hot.
any suggestions? I've never really had to tap before, so its probably the temp sensor to close to the side of threads in the head.

Your car is functioning 100% normal. But if you want, search the How-To forum for a manual cooling fan switch. Install that, and you can turn on the fan as you please.

yeah, I read we have crazy gauges that are just crazy with craziness.

I've already bought the toggle switch, gonna put it next to my underglow switch in my dash.

sounds good guys!

It's your best bet. Doing anything else will just be an exercise in futility.

Apparently...
just never had a car where that was normal, besides a old tempo that I ran into trees all the time.
that thing was indestructable.
