Default CD Changer

Happy New Year!

Bad news: My daughter's 96 SL2 caught fire and was totalled.

Good news: She now has a 99 SC2!

So, I want to put in a factory type (in-the-trunk) 6 disc CD changer. The radio she has in the car has the AUX button so I'm figuring she also has a prewired system for the changer. I have looked all over the trunk area for the connector but haven't been able to locate it.

Does anyone know if it should be pre-wired from the factory? Does anyone know where the connector is located?

That may not have been prewired as the 6 disc changers also have the option of being installed into the center console. You may need to remove the Head Unit and jack the changer in yourself. If you got to the How-to, Wolfman has some excellent step by step instructions for doing this yourself. (I have a 2000 which is a little more involved than the previous years and it still wasn't bas at all.)

Sorry to hear about the demise of your daughters previous car, hope the new one fares better for her

Good Luck!

I have been all over the Forum and can't find Wolfmans instructions. Can you tell me where to look?

It's under the "HOW TO" section on the second page, here:

I hope this helps

Thanks!!

Can you tell me if the GM Delco 6 disc changer can be mounted in the trunk AND in the console, or are they two different items?

No prob, I've been helped out several times by people on here, glad I could help you out (if only a little).

That I'm not terribly sure on, I know SexiMex does a lot of audio stuff, she may be able to help you better. Several of the people on this board should be able to answer that question for you (I remember seeing posts on the 6 disc changer in the past, not entirely sure where any more though, sorry)

I would guess that it could be mouted either or, but like I said, I'm not sure. Your dealer should be able to tell you that as well

Can anyone tell me the model number of the stock, factory installed, 6 disc cd changer for a 1999 SC2? I've been all over eBay trying to find one and have found a lot of good deals, but I don'y know which one is compatible with the stock radio in the car.

just installed one a few months ago in my daughters SL2, the connection was factory wired and located in the middle of the rear trey between the speakers, I was told all saturns are pre wired.
