Default Car forums passwords hacked

SubaruOutback.org sent me an email about this and reset my PW. I read info about it here. http://www.zdnet.com/article/hacker-...sports-forums/

I also checked a list at the aforementioned Verticalscope and Saturn Fans is 'not' on the list, but the software seems to be the same at both car sites, so it might be something you want to keep an eye on. http://www.verticalscope.com/automotive/site-list.html

I'm not insinuating anything about this site. This is just a heads up in case any of you are on any of the other forums.

vBulletin is the standard. They also released a security update patch recently, at least for version 4.x.x . Not sure about 3.x.x as it's a bit older.

Anyhow if you're using your same passwords everywhere you should really stop. It's a bad practice in general, but especially if your password on a non https site (like SF) is the same as your password for your bank.. that's just dumb.

Good heads up notice. zdnet mentions sites hit use vBulletin software. Saturnfans uses;

As shown at the bottom of the page. Perhaps Charlie, our Admin is already aware of this?

You mean I can't use '12345' for all of my sites, including my bank?

No, none of mine are the same, but what you mentioned certainly needs to be drummed into people sometimes.

When I went to the user CP on the Subaru site, I noticed it was identical to the one here, so I was surprised that SaturnFans wasn't on the list, but I figured I would mention it just in case.

^ So you're using my '12345' password!? Stop it!? And make up your own pw. I was here first! Oh, wait, maybe I made my bank pw first then......oh never mind. Now I'll have to use '23456', '34567', '45678'..........but that's just too hard to remember when 12345 works so much easier.

LOL! OK sorry. I'll change my pw to 'password' then.
