Back Catalytic Converter Needed for Inspection?
My Front Exhaust Manifold / Catalytic Converter was clogged up like a wet rag in a toilet - I cleaned that out on my own - Car still had no acceleration - I took it to a mechanic - he found the "Back Catalytic Converter" was also clogged. He scoured it out to get the car running again... Inspection time is now upon me next month. I already sourced a new/used front Manifold from a junk yard (label 18 in the link below) I can't even find the back listed as a "converter" anywhere; I guess its just part of the Exhaust Tube (cylinder between labels 13 & 21) As they only do an OBD2 read as part of the North Carolina Inspection...In everyone's much more qualifed opinion(s)Should i even bother with the expense of cutting and clamping / welding in a new back CAT??
Thanks Very Much!

Re: Back Catalytic Converter Needed for Inspection?
The rear cat is part #14. Super easy to replace it with an aftermarket piece. Does your car need to pass emissions? The rear catalytic converter is not used by the computer to throw a code, so your car doesn't actually need it to run correctly. Replace it with what you choose: aftermarket cat, or false cat. These parts aren't the correct ones, just examples of what to use.
