Default Digital odometer

My 2006 Vue's digital odometer has gone dark. I have found no bad fuses. Can anyone tell me how big an issue this is?

There is an inexpensive unique bulb (~$5 at your Saturn dealer) that has most likely burned out.

The cluster needs to be removed to repair. (I recall it only taking ~30 minutes to replace the bulb)

I was surprised to find they are still using incandecent bulbs, wouldn't it make more sense to retrofit them?

I think the Red indicator Bulbs are LED.

A bulb for the digital odometer? I would figure that to be a power supply issue for the digital readout rather than a bulb for the cluster. But I could be wrong.

??? My OEM lamp was a yellow LED. I currently have a BLUE High Output LED... Super bright led sells them...

It's easy to find the odometer lamp on the rear of the cluster... There is a square of foam around it.

Then there's 4 lamps that illuminate the gauge cluster, 2 for the turn signals, and 1 for the DRL indicator.

If you use an LED, it will only illuminate in 1 position. The bayonet mounts on these lamps can be installed 2 ways, just flip it 180 degrees and reinsert it and it will work...

I can post pictures of the procedure if you want to change it yourself... Let me know...

The digital numbers are backlit with the lamp, even with the lamp burned out the numbers are still readable under certain lighting conditions at different viewing angles.

Most laptops and flat panel lcd tvs backlit with fluorescent lamps that are also prone to failure. There is a movement towards backlighting these devices with more reliable LEDs

On this thread I asked the same question. There are directions attached to the thread.

Do you have to disable the airbag to fix this? I didn't bother with it yet, because I didn't want to mess with the airbag. But by the sounds of this thread, I might not have to.

I never disabled the airbag when removing the gauge cluster... I do have the VUE turned off when connecting or disconnecting the cluster...
