Default valve stem seal removal tool

I saw this tool at Harborfreight:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97975

Would it be suitable to remove the seal in our DOHC or SOHC cams?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

The one I use looks like a giant "C" clamp.

Siliconvalley: The tool you pointed to is to remove valve guide springs, not the valve guide seals. Check my pics for one to remove valve guide seals. It also comes in handy to disassemble lifters. I have a pic of the tool I use to remove valve guide springs. Mine mounts to the top of the head so you don't have to remove the head from the block to remove the valve springs or valve guide seals.

I don't use these tools often as I usually send the head out to have it reworked.

What is is that you are trying to do?

Canyon, thanks for pointing me to your pics. Now I know the HF tool can't be used to remove the seals.

What am I trying to do? I am thinking of replacing the valve seals cuz my combustion chamber is very dirty(the other day, I took the plugs out and look down at the pistons. They are covered with a thick layer of black carbon). It needs a new set of rings too.
