Default 01 L200 Melting Blower Switch

The blower fan switch on my 01 L200 overheats to the point where it starts to melt the inside of the switch. It makes it impossible to slide back and forth and if it's turned all the way up, it will get stuck! I have replaced the switch twice (about once a year) and it keeps happening. The plug on the back of the switch is a little scorched too. It never overheats to the point where it would start a fire but just enough to damage the switch. The blower motor could be drawing too much current but I can't tell for sure.

Does anybody know if there was a recall on the either the switch or the blower motor?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

You have what sounds like a high resistance situation. Check the ground wire for the blower motor for corrosion or loose connection. Check all of the connections for looseness and corrosion. If they look fine, the blower motor istelf may be suspected.
