Default Door Weatherstripping

I was preparing to order new body/door weatherstripping when I noticed that there are different colors:

Oak
Pewter
Black

My interior color is pewter and factory weatherstripping is black. I'm thinking of ordering pewter color. I am assuming the Pewter was probably installed in some models with upgraded interior? Price is the same.

If you look closely at the weather strip I think that you will find that part of it is black and part of it has the colour. The sealing part will be black and the part that attach's to the car has colour.

I'm piggybacking on this thread as it appears closest to where I should post. Today, I went to a car wash and the water starting flooding into the passenger side door. Upon examination I see that the very top of the door is missing a portion of the black weatherstripping that seals it against the body. If anyone knows where I can order it and if there any instructions/ tutorials on it I would appreciate it. It's crack all over and it's a 2002 so it's probably about time. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to another So. Cal'er! Unfortunately, your message isn't clear about which model you're talking about. You might want to update your profile to help correct that. Nevertheless, as for availability of new weatherstripping there only two choices: a GM dealership or an online source selling OE parts. It's possible that the color you need may have been discontinued or sold out, but you'll only know once the order is placed-don't be surprised. If the color you need is not available new then it is possible to have it painted. Check the following sources:

www.newgmparts.com/

The site below is from a dealer in Georgia. It has nicely detailed parts pages to help identify what you're looking for.

There are other new GM parts sites you can find easily on a web search.

Good luck: many of these parts haven't been made for several years.

I just managed to get a door seal for my 2003, in the wrong colour, last year. It was the last one the parts depot had and it took me over six months to find it!

/Hope you have better luck!

Just an update- I was lucky enough to get the right piece. After perusing the forum and the web I've failed to find anyone that has attempted this project. After visiting the car wash recently I found that we had a flood on the passenger side and see that the molding that surrounds that door is missing on this part: 21171272 (aka "reveal molding").I'm unable to post the URL illustration of it since I just got this message that "I can only post URL's to other sites after I have made 15 posts or more". Since this site doesn't allow it anyone viewing this post will have to do a search to reference what I'm talking about unfortunately despite having the URL. What is weird is that I posted last week and didn't see any response to my post with the URL and didn't get that message.

Based on what I have in front of me it not only covers the exterior of the door sealing out water but also appears with these 'legs' that extend I believe into the window frame? Since I have never attempted this project I was wondering if anyone else has done it and what it entails.

I've never had to replace the molding, but have had to partially remove it to work on other plastic pieces at the floor and pillar. It's typically just a matter of lifting it off, perhaps with a screw driver to gently help in the prying, and that's it. As to the "legs" referred to, I have no idea what that could be. (Could you type in a URL and let us do the same to see what it is that you wanted us to view? Who knows - it could be helpful. ) Does the new molding appear to match what you have on the opposite door? If so, then I'd think you should be okay. From the last short paragraph in the post I'm somewhat doubtful that you received the correct part, but perhaps I could also be misunderstanding something.
